We can guess that he would do what children do all the time whenever they play fight -

1. "I'm invincible now!"
2. Summon the strongest thing they can think of.

I guess it isn't the most exciting thing, but neither is Flash stomping everybody because "he fast" but he still gets nominated for stuff like this and nobody really complains.

I tend to give him credit because there have been a bunch of Scribblenauts games and I figure he's got to know his kit pretty well by now. But yeah, with no actual personality and an absurd amount of options, I don't fault anyone for voting otherwise.

also apparently invincible food can still be eaten, so Armstrong could eat him, I just don't think Armstrong would think of that in time

I actually considered variation B as a win condition. "Remove from location." Grab and toss out of location.

hm, speaking of alternate win conditions, sealing/imprisoning an enemy is generally a win

what if Armstrong sits on Maxwell

though he'd have to deal with any minions first (Superman, Death, etc.) which is not trivial

I think Jack Hawthorne can beat Maxwell. I don't think Maxwell can take on an entire city at once. He could theoretically use a nuke or a black hole, but he'd kill himself at the same time, and I don't think that counts as a win. Granted, there might be something in Maxwell's arsenal that can handle Jack that I don't know if. I don't think Maxwell is super tactical - Scribblenauts relies on exploration and creativity over raw strategy. But we'll see about that next round.

Also Quirrell is a hard counter to Maxwell. IIRC Quirrell can see past invisibility, so if Maxwell tries the same strategy that I pegged him using against Armstrong, Quirrell can see him, notice his magic artifact, and Accio notebook. That's game. Maxwell without the notebook is just some kid in a weird hat. I'd also take Darth Bane over Maxwell for the same reasons (can read Maxwell's thoughts and can telekinetically summon the notebook).

In regards to Maxwell I could see some weaknesses to exploit. Like I doubt he is going to jump to "I summon Death" or "I am invincible" from the get go. He's a nice kid and has no clue what he is up against from what I understand (haven't played the game though just looking at summary). I would assume he'd start things off like summoning a helicopter or jet and fly around the field to find out what he is up against.

Then said person can just blow him up if they have the capability to do so.

Alternatively all his stuff is tied to his magic notebook it seems. Something I would assume you could either destroy or simply get away from him unless there is some lore that says that is something you can't do? There is also the thing of how he has to write his stuff down so if someone is fast enough they can just kill him or sever a limb before he can finish writing. He can also fumble what he's writing out of fear since he's a kid.

Also in terms of personality, IIRC Maxwell is given backstory in one of the games: he used to be very selfish and used his notebook for self-centered reasons. Then his sister got kidnapped or something, and now he tries to use it to help people. There aren't really a lot of fights in the actual games in the traditional sense, so I could see Maxwell doing the above strategy and loading up on buffs and offensive weapons because he's a kid and it's like playing to him.

Banes weakness there is that the range of Force Grabbing stuff to my knowledge isnt exceptionally high (unless theres some EU stuff that proves me wrong), and still relies on the assumption that Maxwell only begins summoning after he sees his enemy

Yeah, kinda didn't expect it to be that much of a fight, fairly difference in power levels of the worlds, and in dresden's world as well, there's serious tier disjunction, because of tools and locations being the equalizers in power differential fights.

Honestly I felt that match was a long time coming

I'm just glad this time no one tried to argue the fact Dresden's stamina is dogshit

I couldn't find book quotes last time because I didn't have Peace Talks on my computer, but it was infurating that people disregarded him tapping out as a thing

I'd be down for another one of these, looking past the tiering and a few really silly arguments some of which were made by me oops this was a lot of fun

one suggestion I'd make is for broken tier (if there is one next time) to be either entirely meta characters, or zero meta characters and just stupid strong people like Gambit and Magneto. they don't mix well

Hard disagree on like all of that. It's not guidance, it's access to certain tools that makes the difference. Same for Cyclops being too slow to destroy Bigby, same for Liz not just comically smashing him with her reality warping prowess.
