Also, kinda genius to mix both japanese and english rhyming.

she was an established rapper demondice if you want to look her up

most of the jp hololivers have maybe one or two original songs if they're really popular

amane kanata and i think maybe a few others were popular niconicodouga cover artists before they became vtubers so their music is good in general

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGXZNHNhI0I (used to have more views but there was some shenanigans regarding copyright for a while and a lot of stuff got deleted...)

watame does a lot of covers as part of her daily segment where she kind of tried to emulate coco's daily segment, but with 3-4 songs instead of general news and shitposting, so you'll probably find something you know in her segments

Gotta say, that's one mashup of several genres that I never expected to see.

I'm more of a classic rap fan, but I've heard a few Japanese rappers before like Mummy-D. Mostly when they're featured with other R&B artists I like, like Crystal Kay or Thelma Aoyama (they're both also fluently English and mix languages in their songs).

Erased seems like a great show to rewatch.

Also really glad you liked Avatar TLA.
Korra isnt nearly as consistent and I found it to be a disappointment for the most part, but for some reason I really like the 3+4 seasons.

For one the lightning bending really bothers me. In TLA it was a rare form of fire bending that was hard to master and was very lethal. In Korra, everyone has it and doesnt pack as much of a punch. Another thing is a key aspect that I enjoyed from TLA is the adventure one, theyre always moving around but Korra spends the whole first season in one city......sorry I must vent

I actually just finished Korra last week. I enjoyed it well enough, but it had big shoes to fill so of course it wouldn't hold up to ATLA.

The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the ending. I was already spoiled about it and I did see the clues building up to it, but it still felt unnecessary. Also, Mako was kind of a dick.

Any suggestions for more MMO anime? I have seen the SAO ones (mostly), Of Grimnar and Ash, BoFAri and a few others I can't think of right now. I just tried watching .hack starting with the first), I think I watched it in the past and liked it, but the lack of combat at all, and the slow start is making me want to find something else decent.

I don't have crunchy (without comercials) right now, as I have hulu, but it ends Oct 3rd. My current plan is to get Amazon prime at that point for The Boys season 2, Hanna season 2, Jack Ryan season 2 and Teen wolf, but I'll also check for any anime I have missed on prime while I have it.

So I don't plan on doing Crunchy again till Nov 3rd (just to tied me over till the 19th for 2077).

I always have neflix (uncles account) but I think I have seen everything decent on there, and i'm holding off watching stuff on netflix anyway till I am not paying for something else.

I have also watched most of goblin slayer...I actually need to finish that, so maybe I'll do that next (I stopped at the point when I thought GS died

I wish they would make a grimnar and ash sequal. There is another one on hulu called acelworld or something like that I have been thinking of trying.

Running a bit low on anime after all this time, especially my favorite kinds (I like DnD inspired and/or MMO anime the best).

Overlord (world politics manipulation by virtue of being super OP at the start), Log Horizon (economics and player diplomacy, similar to .hack but much better), Recovery Of An MMO Junkie (love story about the real-world players who find refuge in MMO anonymity and friendships), Death March, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord (kind of brainless but entertaining)

If you expand the definition towards isekai with game-y mechanics in general, there's the slime anime, Shield Hero, Gate (it's japanese imperialist/military propaganda but still a pretty good time), The Devil is a Part Timer (the ever so rare reverse isekai, where the demon lord and hero become employees in modern day earth), Cautious Hero (it's more single-player jrpg than MMO elements)

...also Princess Connect is actually a trapped-in-the-MMO storyline, though the players are unaware and it's a game adaptation (but still a really good one). It's actually the second game's story, where the culmination of the first game is that the villain won and was granted the wish of everyone being trapped in the game

Out of all of those combined, Overlord and the slime one are easily the best, with Log Horizon either being your cup of tea or not. Log Horizon is kind of like .hack with much better pacing and existent occasional combat scenes. Overlord has three seasons so it's quite a lot of anime comparative to other stuff!

Goblin Slayer is extremely western DnD (the protagonist is kind of like an ideal low level dnd character making use of literally everything he can), but you have to be able to tolerate certain things, like.... the first episode, where they drum into you how cruel goblins are

I loved Slime:) I may just rewatch that tbh, wish there was more. Your the second person who suggested overlord again to me, so I better give that a better chance. I did watch cautious hero (just now actually that is the last anime I watched). I need to get back to Goblin Slayer I stopped halfway (or so) through cause well, reasons I explained above lol). Princess Connect sounds good, I will look for that one as well.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I tried Accel world, but it turns out I had already watched it recently and just forgot lol. It really didn't stick with me very well, but I recognized it right away when I started watching it again.

Gonna look into Log Horizon and Princess Connect for now, and probably finish Goblin Slayer, and then I think Overlord is actually on Netflix so I'll hold off on that one till after hulu/amazon subs are gone. I also saw most (or all I can't remember) of Is it ok to pick up girls in a dungeon.

Thanks again!:)

Log horizon and .hack//sign are about the only MMO anime you have left (at least that is worth watching). Sign is a super slow burn and it's definitely not about the combat or action in general. Theres also kind of accel world by the same author as SAO. That's more like augmented reality gaming instead of trapped in a game and the anime does not conclude but it's honestly pretty decent. I really like that authors view of the future.

For isekai theres tons. Konosuba, slime, shield hero are probably my favorites of the MMO style. 12 kingdoms is probably the best isekai but it is not game inspired.

A must watch IMO. There's sadly nothing else like black lagoon (jourmangund is probably as close as it gets but it's not the same vibe at all) and it's jam packed with style and character. Watch the dub if you do, it actually makes a lot more sense dubbed since they aren't in japan most of the time and there is a japan arc which seems like it'd be awfully confusing subbed. Additionally the dub is just really good.

I've seen Accel world, I just forgot about it. It was ok, but not very memorable (since I watched it last year I had hulu and totally forgot lolz). I liked .hack/sign waaay in the past, but it's too slow for me now and well, I have had better mmo anime..which makes me not enjoy it so far. I gotta find log horizon, I may need to watch it on Crunchy eventually because I can't find it on hulu (i'm watching the last stuff on hulu before my sub ends on the 2nd).

I'm watching Airefurita right now on Hulu but may give up on it soon (about halfway through).

I have not heard of Konosuba, I will look into that. I really liked Slime, and I need to give shield hero another try (only saw a few episodes. I'll look up 12 kingdoms as well (doesn't have to be game inspired, it's just my favorite).

Airefurita is a bunch of students from our world get sent to a fantasy one for instance which is fine as well (Slime was basically awesome and just a dude who died and got reincarnated as the most awesome slime ever). I still enjoy it if it's semi DND like basically. I'm not a huge fan of sci fi anime (though I liked Tri-gun and Cowboy bebop etc.

Funny I have watched more anime on hulu than other types of shows by far.

Which kinda brings to mind Shield Hero. One of the things I liked about Shield Hero is that his "weapon" is portrayed as being useless (because it's a defensive item so, at the start, he can't even level well by himself), only for him to start creatively using it and quickly finding ways to become far stronger than the other heroes (who, because they were kinda strong from the start, never bothered to learn how to use their weapons well).... and then, of course, we learn that previous Shield Heroes had actually been very fucking powerful, a fact that wasn't recognized in the kingdom he was summoned to.

In general, there's been kind of a renaissance revolving around unconventional tropes where we've seen weaker monsters and weapons elevated to prominence.

"the weakest is ACKSHUALLY the strongest" is a really common isekai trope in manga; anime just hasn't gotten enough isekai to establish how common it is. shield hero is the most prominent example, but so is arifureta (but arifureta anime is really bad)

vindication is a really recurring theme in isekai

How far does the Conan dub go right now? Because I'd sooner stick with the manga than watch the sub.

Conan dub goes up to episode 128 IIRC, and the first six movies.

plethora of healer manga where the setting they're in looks down upon it (in one of them, mc becomes a physical mage focused on combat rescues; in another, mc can "heal" anything by reliving their pain whilst absorbing skills or memories and very early on "heals" time to reverse itself; there's also a couple otome ones where they end up being sages n whatnot), level 2 isekai (he had shit stats at level 1 when summoned so everyone abandoned him, but got nearly infinite stats on levelling up once), bofuri and toaru ossan (skill noone takes ends up specifically helping the mc become hax), there's like 2-3 summoner ones in settings where summoning skills are looked down on, one of those has a mc who specializes in slimes which everyone looks down on, there's a couple with MCs with manufacturing skills (arifureta has an anime, and in episode 1 the son of a bitch makes a gun), one's about a guy whose battle-useless cheat skill is bringing over food from his home world and ends up befriending legendary beasts, one's about a world where humans are extinct but are so strong as to be invincible vs all the other races so everyone fights over like strands of hair (and of course everyone ends up making out with the MC cuz powerup reasons), one where the guy who was reincarnated was specifically being shit on by god by giving him no skills and a hopeless situation so the mc accidentally invented a new type of magic from the despair, and one where the protag is explicitly called worthless in the title because of his lack of mana despite the fact that he isekai'd from a fps game world retaining his fuggin futuristic guns

even sao was kind of like this early on, where noone actually took one-handed swords with no offhand except kirito

overcoming disdain and low expectations is often an element of isekai plots' setup, cuz isekai in general is the kind of wish fulfillment daydream about
