Should convicted felons be able to vote?

I mean, if people can be convicted of a crime, shouldnt all people be able to have a say in who helps create/enforce these laws?

Both a definite yes and definite no are wrong answers. It is a very grey area.

If criminals were allowed to vote, they'd elect a criminal president. We can't have that.

A felony. There is a class system of crimes for a reason.

Id agree with this, actually. This might be the ONLY crime I think that should take away someones right to vote.

No.Even then you should be able to vote. The laws passed still have an effect on your life, thus you deserve to have voice in governance.

The best case I think for them not voting is if they committed a violent crime. But admittedly I don't feel strong on this one way or the other so

What if that violent crime was out of self defense, but the self defense couldnt be proven? What if it was an African American male convicted by a racist ass jury?

It's far more ridiculous that we allow rich people to vote, than it would be for felons to vote.

Wonder what would happen if votes were valued by income tiers where lower tiers had more value.

Not if they are in prison actually serving time. You do give up your freedoms when you commit some crime after all. After they have served their time and are out then yes, they should regain all rights and privileges as a free individual including the right to vote.

They are citizens of their country, so the answer is yes.

Allowing any country the right to strip a citizen's ability to vote is a dangerous precedent to set, and not one anyone should want to allow.

The only crimes that should result in losing the right to vote are crimes directly related to abusing that right, and people in prison should be able to vote as well. You don't stop being a citizen when you go to prison and you shouldn't stop having representation in government.

Going to prison shouldn't be seen as being deemed unfit to participate in general society, it should be seen as being deemed in need of rehabilitation before being reintegrated back into society.

What do you suppose a life sentence is?
Depends on the state, in many cases it means a sentence of 15 years or longer before the possibility of parole. If you're asking what an actual life sentence with no chance of parole is, the answer is it's a wrong thing that shouldn't happen.

So serial killers and mass murders just need to be rehabilitated before rejoining society? Its wrong to lock up someone who raped and murdered 20 people for life?

There are going to be people who have legit broken brains and can't be released, but nobody should be given a life sentence without even the possibility of getting out in the case of rehabilitation.
