When you're typing an e-mail and your goddamn phone thinks it knows what you want to say more than you do. It always autofills with the blandest favorless text known to man so it's either A. not something I would ever type B. Shaming me for when I write a basic sentence.

Absolutely false. It's not in general settings, so it's intentionally made to look like it can't be disabled so that the feature can prove its worth.

I never have this happen while actually writing emails. It's only when receiving an email my phone will suggest I send auto-replies like "Sure!" "Sounds good!" "Thanks!"

...which doesn't actually annoy me so yeah, 1.

Both this and Day 1 were things that are ultimately designed to make things easier/quicker for people, so if you're massively annoyed by them then it seems like it's more just an issue of you taking it as being told what to do/having a problem with being offered assistance moreso than these actually being annoying things.

Santa, out of curiosity, let's say that you're driving home from somewhere you aren't familiar with and don't know the route. You have the GPS on in the car's media console, with its sound disabled. How annoying do you find it still giving you directions when you reach a point where you know exactly how to get home, and do you go out of your way to turn it off?

I find GPS directions in general pretty annoying! Just look up the location, memorize exits and you don't need an annoying robot voice lecturing you. (the specific situation you outlined isn't that bad because 90% of my drive home from anywhere in the state is a single road)

none of these things are demeaning. you just seem extremely insecure, like somebody offering help is a sign that they don't think you are capable of doing that on your own, instead of just being... help

Auto-insert email replies are meant to help people that reply to many emails in a day to help get through routine things more quickly. That's not demeaning.

A cashier offering to help you in an empty line when you're standing in a longer line is them offering assistance to help get you through the line more quickly in case you didn't notice/didn't see them open/whatever. That's not demeaning.

GPS directions... I'm not even sure how that's demeaning at all.

The fact you think people trying to assist you are demeaning you, or that things like auto-fill are designed to demean you, is definitely more of a personal issue.

Not at all.

The cashier one is two-fold. Helps the customer get through quicker, and helps distribute the workload better so cashiers aren't having to deal with the pressure of longer lines as much when possible. It literally isn't assuming anything.

Likewise, apps having features that make things easier/quicker for users isn't assuming incompetency, either. It's to help with tedium/time management.

I can't tell you how many times I've had my GPS on for places I've driven hundreds of times, and it reroutes me because of an accident or construction congestion, saving me 20-30 minutes of waiting.

Memorizing won't help you there. But you do you!

Yea I do have to agree. Having this be just a generic "oh that things annoying" series wouldn't be as interesting. Though seeing as he did ask for nominations, those are the kind of things that are more likely to be nominated. I don't think there's anything wrong with them tbh, though a mix of both would probably be best if he's going to allow them.
