Omg trying to walk my dad through his Mastering online assignments site was excruciating

To start with there's one assignment already just to teach you how to use the website, and in particular there's a question that's supposed to be impossible to know because it's trying to teach you how to use the Hints feature... but he doesn't get that so he's just getting wound up that he can't figure out this impossible to figure out question

Fast-forward to the last page the assignment and it's just a bunch of videos trying to tell you about a Growth Mindset, to accept your failures, and view them as opportunities to learn from, and oh god my dad definitely does not have this

Fast-forward again, he's finished this sample quiz and now he sees that a Chapter 1 Study Guide is available so he tries it -- it's not marked, it's full of questions to test what you know so you can focus on what knowledge you're lacking............ and my dad's already getting so frustrated that he doesn't know the answers despite the fact that he, y'know, hasn't even read a thing from the e-book yet. ohhh my goddddd, I try to point out to him the whole lesson on a Growth Mindset he was just skipping through and he's like yeah what BUT I JUST WANT TO KNOW THIS ONE OKAY (obviously a lie, there's nothing special about that question that he "needs" to know the answer immediately)

Again I have *absolutely no idea* why he's taking courses when he clearly isn't even interested in learning anything, he just wants to magically have the answers and prove he knows stuff he doesn't know. Anyways I left him be because my god I'm not going through all your studying and test-taking, but he just wants to scan the book for the answer so he can fill it in on this "quiz" that isn't even marked and is just supposed to be a knowledge guide to help him studyyyyy. But boy part of it is just completely hilarious after that section on a Growth Mindset treating mistakes as a positive thing learn from and right after my dad goes through that he gets so mad whenever he doesn't know anything, when again, he hasn't even studied anything at all yet.

... I'm conflicted on Kyle, good lord is he naive and his desire to become a hero is like a more childish Snow.... but I mean as the son of a hero it's understandable... and his positivity is just kinda nice

Like just had a scene where other party members question Judas about his mysterious background but Kyle's just like who cares if you got secrets I like you and believe you're a good guy!... literally even "I like you because you keep secrets!" lmao

... after Destiny 1's plot though it's kinda uh yeah really naive... but still after watching so many superhero comics shows I can't help love seeing someone go "yeah sure you got your secrets who cares!"

... my full thoughts too complicated for almost 4am, but I will say it's the most emotionally impactful ending of the series so far (of this playthrough from Phantasia-Destiny-Eternia-Destiny2)

after Destiny 2 is Symphonia :O... not sure if I should do a replay or move over to the next game I haven't played yet, Rebirth.................. although I kinda really don't wanna go right into another JP-only game...

okie let's see what thoughts I can get out

... Destiny 2 is kinda all over the place, in both good and bad ways, and I really struggle to pinpoint how I ultimately feel about it. Even just by Kyle himself good god I guess with the plot being a protagonist that's the child of the Destiny 1 protag they're gonna ham up his childish personality and naivete, buuuut I mean he is a good kid, just frustrating at times. Honestly he deserves better than the plot he's given of just... I wanna be a hero! Oh Reala you need a hero? I'll just do whatever you need!... what's that, you're not gonna really tell me anything about your goals or who you are or what this story even is?... sure that's fine! Ultimately it just happens to work out but oof, I guess I'll take that out on the bizarre story

That being said yet again... the story isn't all bad, it's certainly more engaging than Destiny 1 starting off with a goose chase of flat out generic baddies until the plot twist that actually some other generic baddies are the problem and then finding out oh hey these generic baddies were being misled / borderline possessed by the REAL ancient baddie! A couple of the big plot twists were predictable but that doesn't at all mean bad, I rather like Judas's story, and the relation of Reala with the big bad makes for a fair main plot.

Reala's pretty terrible though. I really wanted to like her, and for the first half of the game I can... but when she gets into questioning the validity of fascism and still endlessly keeping everything to herself despite Kyle's endless and honestly mindless devotion to her for little reason. Their relationship is terribly contrived, he likes her because she needs a hero and he wants to be a hero although he doesn't know what the story is... and she likes him because he will be her hero which is what she's looking for... also the whole realization where he does become recognized as the hero she's looking for... I don't get it, it's all just made-up plot serving its needed purpose without explanation or reason.

Gameplay is kind of a clunky mess coming from Eternia, I think it was too ambitious for what it could pull off, specifically with the overworld good lord we were not ready for a zoomed in perspective this close... although I guess it's kind of a neat alternative take since we already explored this world in Destiny 1 they wanted to mix it up. Dungeon design the worst so far and I'm ever so thankful I played this on the PC with a speed-up button, if I didn't go on manual and speed through the re-traversals mandated by plot and unintuitive dungeon design I'd go insane. Battles were tough, I'd probably appreciate this more if the game was in English so I could go more in-depth with my setups, but it's still enjoyable even with necessary grind.

Despite my issues with Reala, characters overall are pretty great. Particularly Judas/Nanaly/Harold all top tiers (impressive given where Judas came from, and all the enjoyment Harold brought despite coming in so late in the game). Loni's got his moments but I think the womanizing was played up too much he became one-note with the odd serious moment. Villains............. not great, but middle-of-the-road decent, at least ahead of Eternia's which is kinda the same "acceptable" tier. Was really expecting better of Barbatos, from how he's always the antagonist representation of the series I see, but ultimately eh he's a mindless henchman. I like him but damn I was hoping for another real villain to finally compete with Dhaos.

I think that's it for my Destiny 2 thoughts... it sounds a lot more negative than I intended, I actually contemplate putting it #2 ahead of Phantasia... but I don't think I will. So I think I'm ending up with Eternia > Phantasia > Destiny 2 > Destiny for now.

after i got the platinum i was like "well i never have to play it again" since i finished it like 8 times (3 on gamecube, 5 on ps3)

but ehhhhhh i could play it again i guess. future ones never held my interest long enough to learn them so i'm still fine with symphonia combat
