I liked it. when I took a college class in japanese though, the teacher who was japanese, went on a big rant about that movie once and how much she hates it for it's historical inaccuracies

Yeah, fully agreed. Tom Cruise also did a really good job, his movements in that movie are nothing short of amazing considering the short amount of time he had to learn how to "move like a samurai".

Its entertaining but has a lot of historical inaccuracies. I got enjoyment out of it but Id rather watch Kurosawa kino instead.

My friend's japanese mum said the same thing once, movie really incensed her

He is a bad creepy dude and I would like it if he donated all of his money to noble scientific causes and never made another film again

but I don't mind celebrating his 90s-early 2000s run

I'm pretty sure he didn't beat any of his wives, or at least they've never accused him of physically abusing him from what I've seen. Could be wrong though. He definitely has some emotional abuse accusations though.

Tbh I don't know and I was just making a facetious point that it seems weird to call tom cruise a cool guy, presumably because he seems fun and charismatic, in light of the fact that he's propping up a cult that is undeniably abusive.

You know, like if you seemed like a cool guy becuase we had drinks at the bar but then I found out you were beating your wife. I wouldn't think, "ah man but he was so much fun and he bought the round, I guess people are complex".
