Everyone should be provided a government supported device who doesn't already have one. Using fingerprint identification for validation and signatures as needed. Things not personal wouldn't require it.

Corrik, the point of USPS is not to be profitable, its to provide a universal service. There are rural areas that it would make no sense for a private mail carrier to serve since theyd just lose money; USPS is the only way they can be served.

Point of USPS is correspondence delivery of critical things that Americans need. We have the means to do that digitally now.

Point of the USPS as a service necessary to Americans is not for business delivery. That's just a use of it on top of the service.

You didn't understand what I was saying what was wrong with your argument. You were using something he was saying was being done wrong to say that it was right. Like, it's common sense.

He never said it was being done wrong before, Corrik. He very succinctly said the government wasn't allowed to send non-First Class mail for any purpose without ever asserting it had ever once been done before. I asserted that the statement was wrong because it is the government wouldn't be openly sending billions of pieces of non-First Class mail if it were true.

If I'm interpreting your moon man logic correctly, you're saying that because you came up with a scenario that both of our statements could be theoretically correct that my argument is flawed. This completely ignores the facts that such a level of blatant and self-reported oversight would be completely impractical and that there would be far larger real-world ramifications than anyone on earth is bringing up because you (perhaps choose to?) lack even a modicum of critical thinking.

It's far, far simpler (and mind you actually true) for either one of our original statements to be incorrect than what you are trying to propose to resolve them both.

My state alrdy is withholding unemployment insurance by almost 3% for lack of funds. Now they want states to fund 25% of this. So, basically...

Payroll taxes (seems like all 7.65%) is DEFERRED from August 1st til the end of the year.

If he is re-elected, he will make the tax cut permanent, and it will not be repaid. If he is not re-elected and it made not to be repaid, then it will be owed back next year.

Of course, making that tax cut permanent means no social security or Medicare... So uh... But I believe he means the August 1st to end of year part would be permanant and not be repaid.

Now for the unemployment. That would be $400 a week extra til December 6th. (Yay Christmas). But, states are required to pay 25% of it themself. So it is really $300 from the federal government, but if they don't kick in their part... I think you get nothing federally due to the 25% requirement.

Which making states pay the extra when states are broke and cutting UE back (PA is taking 2.4% out of checks now due to low funds)...

So uh...

The eviction moratorium I believe only applies to federal housing cuz I don't think he has authority over non federal.

Of the 4 bills only the housing one was labeled as an executive order. The other 3 were labeled as memorandums. 2 of them were ordered to be put in the Federal Register as Executive Orders go. 1 wasn't. The unemployment boost extension.

Yeah, but McConnell basically said that and nope'd out of the negotiations saying it would be between the WH and Pelosi/Schumer (you know, after spending weeks acting like some tough guy saying the House bill was DOA and the relief package would come from his desk.)

~~~
Anyway, trying to read up on these EOs (actually not EOs. Only one EO and 3 memoranda) and... it sounds like it's nothing?
https://twitter.com/BharatRamamurti/status/1292239279251501056
Evictions one doesn't actually create an eviction moratorium; it asks federal agencies to see if they can maybe do something about evictions.
Payroll is a deferral so either employers continue to withhold so you don't see a difference, or they don't and it will all get withheld at year's end.
Unemployment Insurance the $400 is $300 from the federal government (FEMA's disaster relief fund which "cool" during a hurricane season) and expecting the states to pick up the tab on the other $100. However, as I was saying earlier when we were talking about USPS... states are going broke and the GOP refuses to help them so I have no idea how the fuck they could manage to afford even that 25% tab. And even if they did, that FEMA fund probably can't last that long before it gets depleted/cut off. (1-2 months seems to be the estimate I'm seeing from WaPo, others)
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2020/08/08/trump-executive-order-coronavirus
WaPo reports that unemployment experts are noting doesn't actually increase federal unemployment benefits at all, "but rather create a new program that could take 'months' to set up."
And this, of course, is all before even considering the almost certainly unconstitutional power grab these represent in just bypassing Congress and making the Executive more of a king who just issues decrees. Hell, Trump even called them "bills" when they obviously are not.
You can absolutely lay a bad EO in and of itself on the POTUS's feet, sort of by essence of what an EO is. What led to him deciding to do it in the first place is a different matter entirely, but to the best of my knowledge no one was specifically asking he do this.
We could always go full galaxy brain bs logic and blame every action of this entire presidency on Obama roasting Trump at a dinner that one time, but I prefer to not to let people pass the blame for their actions to whoever they can (which is Trump's general defense mechanism for literally everything).
