Do you find this robbery "suspicious"?

Francisco Cornejo, the California man who was robbed of his ENTIRE life savings outside a bank just moments after withdrawing 200,000 to help his family during COVID-19 has now launched a GOFUNDME PAGE in hopes of getting some funds to help for his family!!

He was making his way back to his car in Huntington Park on July 30 when a thief struck from behind as footage from an onlooker shows him knocked to the ground and the suspect dressed in all black runs off with the bad of money

He was left with a dislocated shoulder and bruiser who had just withdrawn the money from a branch of Chase following a sale of his home

His daughter, Sindy Flroes says "My parents needed this money to get through this pandemic as they are both unemployed, to support my 94 year old grandma with her medical and living expenses to pay for my sister's grad school tuition and to send money to their family and loved ones to Mexico and El Salvador, as many of them have lost their jobs and homes due to the lack fo work because of COVID-19 pandemic. This money was hard earned and as a result of years and years of work"

His attorney, Nathan Soleimani said "He was parked as closely as possible to the bank, knowing he was going to withdraw a large amount of cash. Within 30 seconds of just getting to his car, he was grabbed, beaten and robbed as they took everything from him. He was literally fighting for his life savings"

Nathan says he did not tell anyone on the large withdrawal as they don't have information to insinuate that it wasn't random but just a big coincidence as how exactly whoever involved know what was going on and are asking people to come forward if they have any information leading to an arrest

The Huntington Police Dept are now investigating

So far, over 5000 over the 200,000 has been raised

Do you find this robbery suspicious?

and there's the next step of the scam. was wondering how he was gonna get more money since i don't know if they would insure that even if he got robbed outside. maybe if he got robbed still inside the bank but not once he got out. but now he's trying to scam peoples kind hearts. he should have made a friend launch the gofundme to be a little less suspicious.

Super quick turnaround on the GFM pretty much gives it away as a scam. If by some small chance he's actually just a dumb dude who got robbed, really sucks.

yea but they're probably banking on him getting like a million+ for it. it's obvious him, the "thief" and the "innocent bystander" are all in it together. he probably already got his money back and they're gonna split the gofundme.

https://www.gofundme.com/f/francisco-cornejo-robbed-of-life-savings

already raised over $1k. seems a lot of people are suspicious about it. wouldn't surprise me if he was donating himself trying to get it going.

page says it's his niece that made it but it still went up a yesterday. that means it was made like hours after it happened. so the "nieces" first reaction is "oh lets go make a GFM!"?

This

Everyone in the branch knows about the transaction days in advance
Some folks in their compliance dept and several other back office depts know
Everyone up to their regional president knows
The dunbar guys see an extra $200k delivery

Everyone knows, just takes one teller with some sketchy connections to set up the mugging

Ive done two 6-figure cash withdrawals in my time as a teller and we had local police show up to escort them to their car both times

Whole scenario is outlandish tbh

It makes zero sense to need cash that's in a bank during a pandemic, when the purpose is to support and protect your family from the pandemic. You use your bank card, you can't order things online with cash. Cash forces you to constantly go out and purchase things, cash is dirty and it makes the risk of transmission so much higher.

This makes no sense. I hope that Gofundme gets flagged and removed. He knows who "stole" his money because he set it up.

Heres my conspiracy theory:

Recently theres been a (sad) trend of videos of young men attacking Latino vendors and robbing them of their money and merchandise around Los Angeles. Some have had successful GoFundMes after they became viral.

If this is fake, then Im thinking that this man thought that he could generate sympathy through filming this incident. But... it was immediately suspicious, and a man who once had $200,000 in assets is not as sympathetic as he thought

Then again, maybe its not fake in which case please ignore this comment lol

It isnt. Busy branches may have that much or a bit in total right after a cash shipment, but they could never give it all to one customer.

Customer would need to come in probably a few days to a week in advance, identify the crap out of himself, and then the transaction would need a lot of approval. Someone high up in risk management would take a look at the funds to make sure they are settled (ie if they are from a check that was deposited last week, it isnt happening). An executive would have to sign off on it. The branch would need to call in a special cash order. The transaction would have to be reported, and there would definitely be some flags going up for some dudes in the anti money laundering department to do some investigating, etc

Yeah it's also weird that within hours of this happening they've already written it off as a loss that needs to be recouped. Most people at this point would still be hopeful about catching the thieves

Was already suspicious when we first heard about it since a 6 figure withdraw is such a serious thing, furthered by the fact that nobody should have been dumb enough not to have just done a bank to bank transfer since that'd have been something they'd have mentioned. Then this?

Mother fucker is either the biggest idiot of the month or pulling the biggest scam of the month. Either or.
