Nice ad hominem you have there instead of an authentic, genuine argument against what's been said about the NRA.

First off I trashed the source and not the person I'm debating. Secondly, I actually did take the time to respond to the source. My post was two sentences and you still failed to read it apparently. The article states that the NRA had more donations and people registering after a shooting happened and that somehow translates to them being terrorists? Sorry but my brain hasn't fallen out of my head yet so I don't follow that logic

You said "toilet paper rag" in response to papercup's post without clarifying if you meant paper or the source he'd listed. Given your history of poor responses to everyone else you disagree with, I'm not going to even take your claim with a grain of salt that you were insulting the source and not paper himself, just as anyone on this board has zero reason to take you seriously or respond to anything you have to say from this point. So goes credibility when this is the pattern you choose to pursue.

Then you followed it up with a misinterpretation to what was said. The article said dues had been increased and that members rallied to show their support. What the article did NOT say was an increase in the membership's roster, though it didn't say such a thing did not happen either.

That's adorable. Me explaining credibility, or how other people may view yours, isn't ad hominem. Ad hominem is replacing a valid argument with going after the other person such as name-calling, calling them emotional (with or without any indication that emotions are actually taking place), or calling people idiots. You do have a habit of belittling others because they do not agree with you.

Once upon a time, it might have been common to do this, but context is often key in addition to the term being frankly uncommon nowadays. Between the username of paper here, and your pattern of behavior on this forum, it's easier to conclude you meant the person and not their source. That said, I am willing to move on if you are.

Lots of people try to side step ad hominem though with tactics like this. Its still ad hominem. You're going after me rather than the content of my post

Yes their profits soar after shootings. Ergo they have no incentive whatsoever to prevent shootings. They profit off of terrorism.

Right, it's not about you personally. What I had said about your credibility was an explanation, a warning even, about your quasi-arguments due to their inability contain any real premise outside of attacking people. I did not call you an idiot or a hack, nor call you names that are not your own. That is not an attack on you. I see how that might be a little confusing at first glance, but I guarantee the difference is not so esoteric.

Saying someone has no credibility and that people shouldn't listen to them is a very very thinly veiled way of saying they're an idiot

Actually, yes.

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/judge-tosses-nra-complaints-enforcement-834774/
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2018/03/02/the-best-available-evidence-suggests-nra-backed-gun-policies-are-making-crime-worse/

The NRA made it so easy to buy weapons, and lobbies so much to "protect gun rights"(it's actually to protect gun sales) and the fact they sell what amounts to "murder insurance" that they actively encourage crime and violence.

That's not accurate in the slightest. There are intelligent people who lack credibility because they're full of shit, and some also just lack credibility in certain subjects or fields whereas they may excel in others. On the flip side of things, there can be idiots who are more credible in specific matters than someone else who might be considered a genius. An idiot can point to a sign or to the likeness between two things, and a smart person might be able to pull ideas or concepts out of their ass without evidence to back it up, no matter how much or how little it might make sense.
