Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

Nemesis I mostly knew from my occasional glances at Mercs topics where he got incredible durability respect. I felt like Nemesis being in mid against most of the characters would result in boring stalemate matches, so at least opponents in High would be able to kill him

Hmm, I think I'd have to give the advantage to Luca Blight, if nothing else that Nemesis will come to him, no matter where it is, including Luca's base of power.

Also yes, this is a mid tier match and both should be demoted.

Anyway this is easy. The power level disparity between these two franchises is pretty big, the Suidoken world has magic power strong enough to wipe out whole cities, Nemesis jobs repeatedly to an ordinary human with a gun.
Plus Nemesis doesn't do too.. um.. hot against fire, and that is Luca's big thing in his boss battle so yeah

I'm hearing conflicting information. Is Luca unable to handle guns and rocket launchers, or does he have enough destructive power to take Nemesis down? Both of these things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, granted.

Luca is very tanky by Suikoden standards - he got ambushed, fought off the party multiple times, and was also repeatedly bombarded by an army of archers before going down. How that translates to handling guns/rocket launchers is up to you.

In terms of destructive power he has very fast swordplay (I think he triple-turns the party?) and fire magic. Nemesis can probably tank the former but I don't see him having much in the way of magic resistance, so yeah.

Yeah, Luca Blight can tank gun shots (from less advanced guns, true) but also magic explosions.
