The 64 has a dozen or less titles that most people care about. For me I really only care about 5 games. The PS has 4 games from the final fantasy franchise alone to outweigh the entire console not to mention the rest of the massive catalogue of good games.

ps1 easily. i didnt really stop being a dedicated nintendo kid until like 2013 so i have no nostalgia for most older sony titles, and the ones i do care to play have been ported to newer systems anyway

I think Playstation 1. I loved both N64 and PS1, but I liked the N64 just a little better. I would miss many games, but that's life... Though, I don't sadly play either as much anymore... As for the game, PS1 had way more (I had so many), but I still didn't play them as much. There were certain games I played more than others, though...

Playstation easily. The N64 has some seminal titles that still have active communities (Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Banjo Kazooie, Mario Kart 64, etc.), particularly in speedrunning or modding; by contrast, most of the PS1's best titles have since been improved upon and few are still considered high-tier games today.

One proviso on this is that I'm assuming that this ban also encompasses ports and remakes (i.e. the N64 ban would also cover the DS port of Mario 64 and the 3DS ports of OoT and MM, etc.); otherwise, I'd be more inclined to go with the PS1, as most of the N64's most celebrated games have since been ported/remade on other systems.

Breath of fire 3, Brigandine, Azure dreams, Wild arms, ff7-9, suikoden, medievil, all some of my favorites that I would miss on ps1.

64 easily. I think a more even battle would be Saturn vs 64 and I'd probably give Saturn the slight edge.

I'd give up either of them.
But it's a fact that the N64 has no good games.
I already played every PS1 game I wanted to play over a decade ago with no real desire to touch that library again.

And? I voted I'd give up the PS1. That doesn't mean I don't think they PS1 has no good games. Some people voted to give up the N64. I'm sure that not all of them think the N64 didn't have good games. Some even just voted for the one they didn't have regardless of games. It's a fact that the N64 had good games. Which games you consider good vary by person. But to say "it's a fact that the N64 had no good games" is wrong. Therefore, you are wrong...

N64 was pretty much the generation where I went from being a huge NES/SNES fan to never caring about Nintendo again. PS1 is pretty much the only reason I'm still a gamer at all.

But also this.

As much as I loved PS1 games at the time, most of them are somewhat hard-going now (both in graphics and gameplay), and even the games that hold up better with age (like the Suikoden titles) probably won't tempt me back any time soon. These days, I mostly just play games from the 360/PS4 generations, with a very occasional dip back to the original Xbox (mostly for Bioware stuff like KotOR or Jade Empire).

This. I guess losing original Smash Bros. would hurt, that's about it.
Never gave a shit about OoT, MM, or Mario 64. And Goldeneye just lead to arguments and broken friendships.

Meanwhile, PS1 is one of the best libraries of all time.
N64 is literally the ONLY Nintendo console I never saw the point in owning. Played at friends' houses sometimes, that's about it. I own every other home console and half of the handhelds, but never N64. Terrible console.

I don't really play games from either - so I could give them both up very easily (I guess I already have. . . )

PS1. Not a bad console, but overrated.

I'm more of a JRPG guy, so N64 can get the boot.

PSX have FF, Suikoden, Legaia, Xenogears, Dragoon, Wild Arms, Chrono, etc.

I have an N64. I don't have a PS1, nor have I ever. That's a pretty easy choice. It gets a bit more complicated if giving them up extends to rereleases and not just the original copies of the games, since that would prohibit me from trying out games I missed out on by not having a PS1, but I think I'd still keep N64 because those games were such a big part of my childhood.

PS1. While PS1 probably had more good games, as far as nostalgic multiplayer with the boys goes, N64 is where its at

ps1 without much thought. While it had a bigger library and consequently probably more games that I'd enjoy replaying, the load-times fucking killed the system for me and my absolute favorite games that "generation" were on the N64.

That's not getting into the fact that a lot of ps1 games got ports/remakes (or were ports in the first place).

I'd give up the PS1. The only PS1 game I ever liked was Metal Gear Solid anyway, and I have Twin Snakes for Gamecube so I'm still good to go.

I play through a randomized Ocarina of Time about once a month or two.

Only game I can think of on PS1 would be FF7, but I play that on PC with mods so it doesn't look like crap anymore. So I'd easily say PS1.

This is actually a difficult question for me because while the PS1 has way more great games, the N64 has Majora's Mask, which is like crack for me. On the other hand, it's not clear if TC means that you can't play any ports/remakes of the games... not sure.

The PS1 library is far superior so I'd give up the N64 games. Several of the popular ones were even remade anyway.

Sorry that it took me like forty posts to comment on this; I'm excluding those from the poll. I actually made this topic to help me decide what game console to bring with me when moving: the Wii or my PS3.
