No, the fact that they were forced out of complete power proves otherwise, they got lucky it didn't end like the French revolution

Also the queen of England seems more like a mascot than head of state

"Forced"

It's not like they chose to give the people the vote since it doesn't actually effect them.

The Queen has absolute power over the military and the government has to get her permission to make big decisions. She can also completely overrule the election if she thinks the elected party is damaging.

Kings and Queens were created out of Europeans fighting one another and stealing each other's land and resources. That's how William The Conqueror took control of England in 1066.

All of those fake titlies i.e. Duke, Lord, Earl, Viscount etc were nothing more than a way for people who thought they above the commoners to exert control and hoard all the land which is what led to British people settling in what became America.

In England at that time, if you weren't part of the aristocracy, you were considered a peasant and a nobody and the only way you could get land was if you were born into the right family.

Little known fact is that in the late 19th and early 20th centuries British aristocrats who owned large estates could no longer afford the upkeep so they came looking in America for wealthy daughters of America's wealthiest families. The tv show "Downtown Abbey" is loosely based on that.

America's wealthiest families wanted a place in the upper echelon of British society so they started marrying their daughters off to aristocrats in exchange for money to help keep up the estates and a place in British society among the aristocrats.

Not many people know that Sir Winston Churchill, the late former British PM was the son of an American woman named Jenny Jerome and Lord Randolph Churchill. Jerome was born in Brooklyn in 1854. Her father was a financier named Leonard Jerome. Men like Leonard Jerome wanted a place at the table of British aristocracy so they married their daughters off to men who were in the aristocracy who needed money. I'd say they were pimping their daughters but that's just me.

The late Princess Diana's great-grandmother was an American socialite named Frances Ellen Work. Her great-great-grandchildren include Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Princess Diana's and Prince Charles' sons.

Francis Work was born in NY in 1857 to a stockbroker father named Franklin Work a protege and friend to one Cornelius Vanderbilt. Francis Work was married to James Boothby Burke Roche.

I am willing to bet not many Americans even know this.

Yes an no, Kings/Queens were the ones who conquered and commanded the respect of lesser landholders. They didn't just stamp everyone down with an evil giggle, they took control, protected the interests of the people and gave the original land owners general autonomy.

No, they're people assigned by the King to control the King's territory either for their historical control or for doing some good for the kingdom. They're nobles because they're supposed to be noble, bad Lords had their land stripped from them.

You got land by serving your Lord well. Almost everybody owned their own land and home, but they owed their Lord council tax.

That's not little known. Aristocrats are used to living off their families' passive wealth and when that dries up they marry in to other families to expand their passive income.

They were negotiating. The daughters were aristocratic too, they also want to marry in to wealth. If you understood how alliances work, you'd understand.

She does though. All votes are just a show of who the people want, she can, and has, completely ignored the electoral process and chose her own government. When the government wants to declare war they have to get permission from the Queen, when it wants to leave the EU it has to get the approval of the Queen.

She has an absolute tonne of power but she chooses not to use it because the people want a democracy, not a dictatorship. She appeases her people's expressed opinions to best suit her people, going against that is just going to harm the people.

In 1957 she chose her conservative leader, Harold Macmillan.

The only reason the government has any say in any matters is because she is honour-bound not to use them. Who do you think gave government power to begin with?

I'd point out that England was a republic, with the monarchy abolished, from 1649 to 1660. We cut the head off our king long before the French started guillotining aristos.

Kings and Queens existed far before William The Conqueror was alive. One of the earliest examples would have been the ancient Egyptian pharaohs.
