Literally telling women they don't want to watch women's wrestling.

They tried to do that though.

And then literally all of them have been getting injured. Like, Britt had a feud starting with Yuka and that got stunted. Then she was going to feud with Swole, and that got stunted at first because of the pandemic. So they tried to have Britt (or was it Penelope Ford?) feud with Statlander before that got stunted by Statlander's injury. Then they started a feud with Swole and Britt again, and Britt got injured.

Someone was going to feud with Bea Priestly too and I can't remember but that got ended when the pandemic started.

Shida has feuded and beaten Britt, Nyla, and Ford. There is nobody left except Swole for her to beat now that is even close to a contender.

re: the "Many women don't care about women's wrestling" thing, I can only assume that was a nod to the fact that a focus on women has historically not shown any movement in ratings for female fans at all.

I think the only thing to do is to have Nyla win the title back in a regular match to build to the rubber match while you...build up Swole?

They've had some bad luck with the women they've brought in too - I for instance had higher hopes for Diamante's talent level given how she's been booked on the indies.

Like it's not a good situation and there aren't many obvious ways to get the women they have over.

The elephant in the room here is still Tessa. She's toxic but...she's out there and is in a lot of ways the kind of talent they need.

That's not what she said though - she said "its a fan club for women who like wrestling, not women's wrestling. Because women don't necessarily prefer women's wrestling" she just said it stupid.

I continue to be baffled that we've got WWE, which just signs everyone; Impact, which is pretty much hanging its hat on the strength of its women these days; and AEW, which desperately needs female talent, especially young female talent with potential.

And none of them seem to have any interest in AQA, Hyan, or Alex Gracia, who are all just sitting around doing next to nothing in a promotion owned by BOOKER T of all people, so it's not like they don't have visibility.Two of them even worked that Impact/ROW joint show and Impact still didn't sign them. What am I missing with women's wrestling these days where you'd rather have Cameron than some twenty-somethings who are already good enough to be, at worst, among the upper tier of AEW's female workers. It's not even like they don't have marketable looks or anything. They're all attractive, they're athletic... They could be legitimate stars.

What are we doing here, wrestling companies?

Big Swole
Nyla Rose
Anna Jay

like Swole's showing a ton of charisma and Nyla is a unique talent, but the other two slots could have been managed so much better and its not like theyve even used Sadie since OCTOBER so like why not take some fliers on some workrate people.

Cameron I at least get - she's a biggish name. A name notorious for sucking, but a name nonetheless.

Emi Sakura: Great, but inactive due to pandemic
Kris Statlander: Injured, but green
Riho: Great, but inactive due to pandemic

Inactive: 9

Half their damn women's roster got lost, and they even hired Anna Jay and Abadon during the pandemic, so that number would be lower otherwise.

Speaking of Green, wasn't Chelsea Green supposed to be line for a big push, then she just disappeared?

Yeah, Chelsea Green literally dumped Robert Stone and he picked up Aaliyah instead. Chelsea Green hasn't been seen since.

People speculated that it was because of COVID and Cardona was in more danger due to WWE's absolute fucking botching of preparing for it and Chelsea opted out of going there. But Cardona said it wasn't that.

So WWE just decided not to use her anymore.

It's actually pretty interesting to see how a basic storyline actually progressed involving Stone and various female wrestlers, intertwining with Aliyah, Shotzi Blackheart, Rhea Ripley, and Mercedes.

I sort of zoned out at the Nightmare Collective stuff so I couldn't remember how she was now. She used to be really good though!

It looks like the 12 man tag pulled in people as it went on because it was a fucking awesome match with names.

Then it simmered until Cardona made his debut, and it kept going up as they advertised Jericho and OC, then it plummeted for Swole vs. Rebel.

It was a 2 minute long joke match where Britt Baker put her against Swole for the right to fight her at a later date.

Presumably because they're all stretched thin from having to record the tag team tournament the same day and didn't want to seriously book anyone.

The fourth quarter saw AEW do 919,000 viewers and 460,000 in 18-49 for the MJF interview, Matt Hardy interview and angle with Sammy Guevara and Ortiz & Santana messing up Sues minivan. NXT did 756,000 viewers and 285,000 in 18-49 for the bulk of the Priest vs. Lorcan vs. Holland three-way which was the 18-49 peak of the night for NXT.

Big Dave Meltzer is discussing the AEW Women's division and said that he would rather see underutilized talent like Rey Fenix, Pentagon, Scorpio Sky, and Jack Evans featured before more women, and that he recommended Nicole Savoy for AEW. He says they won't draw and shouldn't be featured more on TV because they aren't as entertaining or talented.

He also reiterates the talking points that a lot of their women's talent is inactive now and that Shida, Ford, and Nyla have really stepped up in the void.

I mean, I can't necessarily disagree too much. From a business standpoint it makes a lot of sense. He thinks in time the women's division will be fine.

At what point would it make sense for AEW to run multiple shows a week or tack on an extra hour to their current show?

I know when you just start adding more of stuff it can make things worse so they may be a long way from that it people may not want that at all. It just feels like they have a large roster for the amount of time they get per week.

They have AEW Dark. They've started a women's tag tournament. That's another 2+ hours.

It would never make sense to extend Dynamite to 3 hours.

One of the big advantages AEW has is that you only need to watch 2 hours of programming to more or less get everything.

Doubtful. AEW is doing better than most shows on the network. And they're signed on a 5 year deal now.

I thought it was a three year deal.

Also the biggest difference is that AEW has none of the bad contracts late stage WCW does so it's a rather cheaply produced show.
