Since Sniper died, i have been on the stakeout after work for around 30 ish minutes (in the location where i found him) to find my late's kitten's mother (which i knew before too)

i brought sniper's old tray and leftover food to befriend her and she's very friendly. she ask me for pets and fall asleep and flop on my foot, using my foot like a pillow EXACTLY like sniper.

i will prepare my house, basically sanitizing everything, and i think i will take her to the vet to get her shots, then clean her up and take her home to give her second chances.

like she's super friendly, she let me lift her, touch her paws (not belly tho. she shoved my hand gently with her paws but no claws out) and she doesn't look diseased.

Oh no, sniper didn't make it? Sorry, bro.
He didn't sadly.

How should i trap adult stray cat in a carrier? Like i probably can't just pick her up with my hand like i did with Sniper.

Lure her with food?

Id put food near the cat carrier.

Next time, closer.

Next time, just inside.

Then, actually in the cat carrier

If you keep going to see her and build trust, she may let you pick her up. Cats are funny with carriers, some like that it's sheltered and dark, it makes them feel safe. Others hate the idea of being constricted and freak out.

I got my cats used to theirs by leaving it out all the time with the door open and their blanket inside, every now and then I'd put cat biscuits in it. They started going in there on their own accord.
I still have to carry her in a car, so i'd rather she freak out inside the carrier than the car that could kill us both.

The experience won't be fun for her. Going to rhe vet, get washed, get stabbed with needle.if she can endure it she will have permanent home with warm bed and infinite food for the rest of her life lol.

A deep, vented, bin with a well-padded bottom (paper, cloth, etc.) and a snap-top lid, should work *better* than a kitty-carrier for transporting a feral or stray adult cat.

[ Someone I know used a kitty carrier to move with their rescued cat. It was so stressed it died of a heart-attack. ] :(

You might only get one chance to get her in the bin with the lid on. If you're doing it alone, don't rush; trust is key.

Damn.

Well i hope it didn't happen. With sniper i just in a rush because he was bleeding so i just put him inside a box with holes on it. It's not a long drive. Like 10 minutes or so if the traffic is good.

I once used a deep bin--a plastic bin like *this* one, with a vented plastic snap-on lid--to rescue two kittens.
https://www.lowes.com/pd/Creative-Plastic-Concepts-14-Gallon-Blue-Recycling-Bin/1000015983

Btw, for the rescued cat that died it was their *second* move in a kitty carrier. I saw the results of the first move: food, poop, hair clumps, etc. coated the inside of the carrier.

The drive was 20 minutes, but they kept the cat in that kitty carrier for over an hour. If they hadn't the cat would have tried to run outside and hide (it happened once before).

When I got my cats, they were in carriers in the back seat and I drove for 3 hours and they were absolutely fine... No idea how a cat would make such a mess and have that happen in just 20 mins...
Cats, like people, are unique and some hate the noise, the pressure, the confined space, the stress, etc

Sorry about Sniper, my 18-year old cat Paulina died this week, but I know it's rough no matter how long you've had them.

Do you have pics of the mom, and a name for her?

Cats go into heat within 8-12 weeks after their last litter. Once they're done weaning them, they go back into heat in a few weeks.

I've seen a cat give birth 3 times in a year before. She had a full clan of kittens by Thanksgiving.
