When the president is engaged in illegal activities and fashions himself above the law, there are only so many places the conversation can go before it runs afoul of the ToS.

All I can say is: vote. And hope that this extralegal problem isn't met with an extralegal solution.

Commuting a sentence means you are stating the person has already served the necessary time for it. They remain a convicted felon, but do not have the obligation to admit guilt.

Stone didn't want to be held liable for testimony after this in which he would have to admit his guilt for the crimes listed against him. Commuting the sentence allows that so its a win for both Trump and Stone!

I hate them so much.

Witness tampering and lying to investigators. The witness tampering is particularly egregious because he continued to do it after being arrested, then continued after being ordered by a judge to stop. Imagine a police officer tells you to put down your gun and you don't, then you continue holding it after being in handcuffs.

The President claims he didn't have anything to do with Roger Stone, but here he is commuting his sentence.

Make sure you vote on November 3rd. It's the only way any of this is going to change.

Nothing unfortunately that can be done about this. The President can pardon or commute the sentence of whoever the hell he wants.

it will never change because all presidents do it, it would take congress to pass a new law banning this practice

Whatever happens in November, it's pretty clear we need to greatly curtail the power of the President. The President should not be able to wantonly pardon political saboteurs, should not be able to make policy for his own benefit, and all Presidential candidates should be required to make their taxes public.

McDougal's pardon came just one day after the Whitewater investigation was closed down under a deal in which Clinton gave up his law license and admitted make false testimony under oath in the Monica Lewinsky in return for prosecutor agreeing not to indict him.
"She's absolutely delighted," said her lawyer, Mark Geragos. "She is speechless for once in her life. And I think it is especially poignant that it was one of the last acts of Bill Clinton's administration."
McDougal went to prison rather than testify in the Whitewater investigation.
Convicted at a 1996 trial where Clinton testified in her defense, McDougal remained an unabashed supporter of the president, appearing on national television in her orange prison jumpsuit to insist that Clinton never engaged in illegal loans or other improper conduct as prosecutors in Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr's office sought to prove.
Her former husband, failed Arkansas savings and loan operator James McDougal, also was convicted at the same trial but took a markedly different path. He chose to cooperate with Starr's office and implicated the Clintons in wrongdoing before his sudden death in prison.
Susan McDougal never wavered, embarking on a campaign to portray Starr, a Republican, as politically motivated, on a "personal vendetta" to pursue the Clintons and disinterested in the truth. Starr and his staff repeatedly denied those allegations.

Anyone in a position of government power should be required to release their taxes to an independent auditor to make sure there isn't any foreign domestic corruption involved in order to prevent treason.

This should be treated as common sense.

That's how the Republican party works. You might hear references now and then to 'The Magic R'. Or as Trump explained it, he can [literally] get away with anything, simply because Republicans don't care about conduct, only WHO is doing said conduct.
