a jacket i bought went on further sale, so i went back to the store to get a price adjustment

the lady at the counter told me that my size was out of inventory so my jacket was no longer eligible for price adjustment

i went online and pulled up their price adjustment policy, and showed them there was no mention of the same size needing to be in stock to qualify for a price adjustment

the lady said "sorry that's our policy" so i said "that's fine...then show me where in your policy it says that. you can't just randomly add criteria to your policies to save yourselves a buck"

and she says "it's what we were told by management" so i told her "okay, go get your manager and let them tell me, or let's call corporate right now and then we'll hammer it out"

she got visibly angry and said "i'm the on site manager with the authority" so i said "perfect, then you can make the price adjustment for me that's guaranteed in your policy, since we are within the criteria"

and she got annoyed and said "fine, but just this once"

so many losers would have given up at so many points there, sometimes you just gotta hammer through to get what you want

The Karen stereotype is unnecessary escalation to feed into their self-importance/innate stupidity. One can be a major douche while still being right, but trying to get what you're owed isn't being a douche unless you go into the situation acting like a pissant.
