If you can believe this, they let us watch Ren and Stimpy but not The Simpsons.

We begged them to let us watch the Simpsons, and they relented for one episode - which turned out to be the one where Marge paints Mr. Burns in the nude. They said no more after that

They let us watch everything. As for The Simpsons, we watched that every night during dinner as a family even when I was like a toddler lol. >.>

Wasn't allowed to watch Simpsons or Spongebob or Family Guy. She thought Family Guy had inappropriate jokes for a kid and she just found Spongebob annoying and she didnt want to have to listen to that.

Interesting story though my mom let me watch Dragonball Z but when I moved in with my aunt she wouldnt because she thought it was too violent. I already done see Goku get a hole blown in his chest!

Pro Wrestling
Music Videos
Any movie that wasn't vetted beforehand, though not much was vetoed if we were past the labelled age guideline.

I think Married... with Children was, but I didn't really care for it anyway. The Simpsons wasn't, then it was, then it wasn't. I'm sure there would have been a lot more (as my parents are fucking insane), but I didn't really test the limits much.

edit: after reading the other replies, yeah Power Rangers + its clones and Beavis & Butthead were definitely banned. honestly, it might have been all of MTV.

Also, Voltron was banned for awhile.

I can't remember anything else off hand. Oh, Ghostbusters. She even hated the music video.

Beavis and Butt-head was the big one. The one time my dad let me watch it was awesome

My parents actually watched The Simpsons with me. I distinctly remember one time when I was afraid my mom would make me stop though. It was the one where Homer is training to be an astronaut and Homer starts yelling about the Planet of the Apes and goes "DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!". My mom was not happy about hearing that

Oh, and I wasn't allowed to rent "I Spit on Your Grave". I can understand that one though :)

The Simpsons, Ren & Stimpy, Cow & Chicken, South Park. The South Park episode in particular was Damien with the Jesus vs Satan boxing match

Of course I watched them all in my room with the volume down and my finger on recall. I did that for quite a while and when I got caught, they totally didn't care anymore

My dad wouldn't allow me to watch The Proud Family. I watched it anyway but still. This topic brought that memory up. Jfc. >_>

Other than that, couldn't watch Family Guy, The Simpsons, or the South Park until I was like 14.

I remember our mom banned us from watching that Simpsons episode where Bart became a faith healer, because we coincidentally had learned of Jesus healing at church that day, and she felt the episode was making a mockery of it.

We also didn't have cable until 2003, so some shows such as South Park and Beavis & Butthead were already not even on our radar.

Beavis and Butthead as a kid, and then as I got into double digit years it was South Park.

My uncle watched both of them though and I'd watch it with him without my mom knowing lol. Other than that mom didn't care too much.

My dad didnt care one bit about television or music

My mom didnt let me listen to anything with a parental advisory sign, and really didnt let me watch anything past pg-13. The time I bought the Onyx album Back Da Fuck Up (spelled differently but I guess it could be censor bypassing if I did the correct name) and my mom made me show it to her in the car. She marched back into that store, got the money back, and then when I asked for my money back she said my money and we drove home.

My mom wound up cancelling cable when we were young as fuck because we could never decide on shows and she caught a glimpse of beavis and butthead and that was the final straw.

My dad can be lenient on what I watch as long as I don't... act on it or at least think 'This exists'
Mom does care.
I wasn't allowed to watch Ren and Stimpy anymore
There was a period where I wasn't allowed to watch the Simpsons
Any episode depicting of religious themes such as characters going to hell or a devil I was not allowed to watch
Banned from watching Gummi Bears for trying to practice magic with an open book
Dad told me he would ban me from watching Johnny Quest because I asked him with the Book of Rage was real.
Mom hates Married with Children. Didn't want me to Buffy.
