the far cry games dont necessarily need to take place in the same version of earth. The numbered games are totally unrelated to each other.

Doing a prequel with Vaas' backstory is a good way to sidestep 5's post apocalypse while still keeping 3-6 all in the same universe. @MoogleKupo141 This is not true. There are references in Far Cry games to the previous ones. So yeah I htink they made a mistake with Far Cry 5 story and they try to fix that.
