brings back memories

Its super barebones, maybe even by N64 standards, but Ive been having a lot of fun with it, and the little cantina menu hub and hangar gallery are fun little details. The courses are all neat Star Wars theme parks and I dont think theres a bad one in the batch.

Wish it had online MP, but oh well.

I have it for Dreamcast but grew up playing Episode I racer on N64.

The DC version has cutscenes between races, it really messes with the fast-paced flow of the game, imo.

Have you played Star Wars Racer Revenge for PS2? It was a good spiritual successor with more focus on combat than racing alone. Very different but worth a play.

I still have it on my N64, great game for its time but not something I would bother playing again.

The rubberbanding in that game was so bad if you dropped out of like 3rd place you're pretty much fucked for the entire race and fuck Abyss that track was so bad if you fell off the top of the course it was over you had no chance of winning.

Neva Kee and Mars Guo were my go to racers.

I remember it was crazy how Sebulba had the secret flame thrower weapon when you used his taunt and Gasgano had that one taunt that sounded like he was saying "Have a dildo!"

Im actually not really noticing much rubberbanding on Switch, I only really fall out of first if I fuck up bad, and can usually work my way back up front if its not like, right at the finish line.

My man. I picked it up and played a bit on PS4. Still pretty fun, though like TC said, much more bare bones than I remember. The first couple sets of tracks (circuits? I don't remember what they're called in this) I was in first basically the whole time and it felt kind of empty, without much difficulty. If I remember right from when I was younger, though, it gets quite a bit harder later on.

I platinumed it on PS4 a few days after it came out. I bought an N64 a number of years ago to play this game specifically, and it's the only Nintendo console I own.

The original is one of my favorite games of all time and to see it in 60fps with updated models/textures is awesome.

Wait...do people honestly have issues with the difficulty? It's piss easy compared to games like WipeOut and Redout.

The first circuit is a cakewalk. The later circuits are actually quite difficult. Some racers simply have the wrong stats for some courses.

I always try to change it to Winner Takes All so I can just play the race until I place first and beef up the podracer.

I found out when i was younger that on the n64 version, you could go through the entire game not upgrading your pod racer, and everyone else would have un-upgraded racers as well, and it'd be the same difficulty wise throughout the whole thing, is that still a thing here?

Yes, that's the only way to make enough money for the "best upgrades" trophy.
You set all your races to Winner Takes All so that the other racers don't have the truguts to upgrade anything. Go through all the races without upgrading anything on your pod. Then once you've finished the game you switch racers back and forth so the Junkyard refreshes and buy all your upgrade parts.

To make the game interesting you keep the winnings on the default setting so the other pod racers can upgrade alongside you.

I like the game but it feels like a poor man's F-Zero. And F-Zero X was pretty amazing, probably my favorite in the series
