Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

TODAY'S PARTICIPANTS:
Death (Supernatural)

The primordial force, Death is capable of summoning a hurricane with ease. Probably unkillable, but can be contained

vs

SCP-682 (SCP Foundation)

A powerful, maliciously intelligent abomination, SCP-682 boasts insanely strong regenerative abilities and is the face of SCP, its containment procedures, and the failure of said procedures. Basically unkillable, but can be contained.

just looking at these two I'd peg Death as being more likely to have something that would let him win here, but I really have no clue

SCP-682 is pretty dumb because aside from his absurd regen, his gimmick is being able to adapt his body to any kind of attack and survive it. he's basically a comic relief character - there are dozens of mini-fics of Foundation doctors being like "let's see if X artifact can kill SCP-682" and the answer is always no.

but his offense iirc is just being fast and eating people

I feel like Im a battle between two basically unkillable entities its got to come down to something outside the norm.
Death wins this one because hes simply way too intelligent to be caught out by simply being eaten or chased down. Assuming theres no way SCP can get Deaths scythe from him he cant be killed and Death can kill anything in the supernatural lore unless it has the Mark.
Death would find a way to kill or trap SCP, hes interdimensional and possibly older than God.

I feel bad for the SCP. This is a real poor matchup for him

just because a group of scientists can't find a way to kill something, doesn't mean it is 'unkillible'

This is the literal cosmic embodiment of death we are talking about. The fucking GRIM REAPER.

Tactile Necrokinesis - As the personification of death itself, he can instantly kill anything or anyone by touch in this manner, ranging from bacteria to God.

Does SCP-682 have any actual combat abilities? All I'm seeing is "he adapts to any attack." What does he do offensively?

Depends on his shape. He's generally fast as hell and pretty strong, though he doesn't have any magic or anything. In a normal match, his strategy would be to not die and never give up. If his opponent couldn't either kill him or convincingly keep him perpetually contained or incapacitated, he'd escape and eventually get lucky enough to get the drop on them. Death is a real strong counter to him, along with anybody who could teleport/move him to somewhere he couldn't get back from

What is Death's reaction time? If SCP-682 is very fast - and it sounds like it is - it could get the jump on Death.

That said, it sounds like the only ways to truly incapacitate Death are to trap him or kill him with his own scythe (or presumably some equivalent, like I'm guessing Balefire could do it). SCP doesn't sound like it has either.

Oh I just noticed that I was tagged.
SCP-682 has even survived reality-bending attempts at killing him.
http://www.scp-wiki.net/experiment-log-t-98816-oc108-682

But, well, if this were an SCP entry the answer would be a stalemate. I guess it's at an disadvantage being not written as an SCP entry. :p

Though yeah I don't see how SCP-682 can take on this incarnation of Death, even if he can't kill it, he most likely can contain anyway so that's just as well.
