I have never taken vitamins, and I kinda wonder if they actually make a difference at all. I'm older now, perhaps I should try it and see if it gives me more energy or something.

I've known a few people who did, but I never really asked them about it. It's a huge industry though which makes me think it has to have some effect or why would so many people spend money on them?

As I'm passing through 50 and into the (in my mind) older age groups, perhaps I should consider at least trying a few (or maybe just a multi-vitamin) even day.

I wonder if they come in gummy form (without alot of sugar), I so miss gummies!! Course you probably only get to eat one gummy in vitamin form, I think they frown on you eating the whole packet in 20 minutes.

I take a multivitamin everyday but only because I'm sick and can only eat brown rice and only drink water. I don't specifically notice feeling better but my vitamin levels have been kept in the normal ranges except the fat soluble ones which I assume is cause I have virtually no fat.

EDIT: I should mention that theres plenty that have a risk of gradual overdosing. Some vitamins you can take basically infinity of and your body will just dump the excess but some don't work that way. Ideally you'd probably get all your vitamin levels tested, start taking a multivitamin for a while, then test them again to see how well they are absorbing and temper your vitamin intake off that but thats inconvenient and fairly expensive. For the most part, if you aren't low, you don't need to bother.

Vitamins, for most people, are a way to make your piss more expensive.

If the doc says your short on something, you can do two things, change diet, or add a vitamin.

Put it another way, if it helps, you are either unhealthy and should see the doctor, or you are delusional.

That remeinds me, I did mention possibly taking vitamins once to my doctor (years ago) and he said I should let him know if I did (what vitamins I took), which I didn't expect (cause I thought lots of people just took them. I never did start taking them though.

I had (still do) low energy and thought vitmins might help with that.

I don't.
My diet doesn't need the support.
As others have said, it should be an addition and only necessary by doctors advice.

Just eat as best you can

It depends on what I'm having for dinner, which is when I'd take my multi-vitamin if ever. I'd take one if I think the dinner I'm having is lacking in wholesale nutritional value, such as this paneer tikki masala I get from Trader Joe's. When I think the nutrients are fine, such as with my turkey chili or vegetarian yellow curry, I don't bother with the multi-vitamin.

If you eat a proper balanced diet you don't need vitamins. But who the heck eats a proper diet anymore?

You can get plain multivitamins from Costco for about $15 for 500, which is really cheap insurance. I also take a calcium supplement since I'm getting older and would like to keep my spine, thank you. And since I'm outside a lot I take a Lutein/Zeaxanthin capsule, which helps protect the eyes from the effects of UV radiation.

I've tried taking mega-B vitamin pills, but the only noticeable effect was that it turned my urine a searingly bright yellow color.

A lot of people. It's not hard to avoid terrible foods.

no i typically try to consume foods that will fullfill my daily vitamin/mineral in take. because of this, if i took a multi vitamin, id likely begin exceeding some of those daily intake requirements. this could lead to an extra burden on my internal organs making them work harder than they should.

Then why do people eat your food if they're trying to eat healthy?
