He is working over time to get kids and teachers killed. Things are getting a lot worse by the day. We were not ready to reopen and because of him people are not wearing mask and spreading that shit all over.

He's doing the stupidest things he can think of so he won't get reelected. He knows he doesn't deserve to be president, but he's too proud to resign, and the Republicans in power won't vote for impeachment. He's basically committing career suicide.

Hes said that attempts to keep schools closed are to sabatoge him politically so basically hes throwing children and teachers to the wind because he thinks itll get him votes by creating a false sense of normalcy.

One that will probably last a week or two before cases start spiking among teachers

This. The Republican party's entire platform is to ensure the ultra rich continue to get richer no matter how badly they mess up, while all others suffer and work for the benefit of the ultra rich. It's all about human suffering, and unlike the rest of the modern world, we have religious cultists who want that for us all. If we raised the minimum wage and gave all employees benefits through the government it would actually benefit everyone, but it would slightly affect the profits of corporations who continue to strive for more and more while paying negative taxes.

Kids need to be back in school. Virtual schooling is a pipe dream that only a few students will actually benefit from. If parents are that worried about the virus many districts are giving them the option of home schooling anyway.

he's trying to win points by "returning to normalcy" while ignoring the students and teachers who will be getting sick
also, by getting the colleges open, which are usually more democratic, he can get those students sick and prevent them from voting
with another spike, he can use that to close blue area voting stations under the guise of "health concerns" to suppress more blue votes

the problem is that you either have to go full bore or not at all.

my wife is a teacher in NYC and they are implementing an alternating schedule for students and 50% occupancy rate.

anyone who lives in NYC and has been in the schools knows they cram 30+ students in class rooms designed for half that.

so now their idea is half go m,w,f and then t, th. Alternating 3 and 2 days every week.

while home you still get virtual instruction.

but the issue is kids are still coming to the building and teachers are coming in every day anyway. So what are you really preventing?

theyre allowing high risk teachers to stay home during this though. But what should have been done was voluntary admission for in person instruction. If parents want to send their kids in, so be it. Otherwise you stay home and have a set number of virtual instructors for those students. Teachers with the high risk can be those instructors.

If they're giving out four digit stimulus checks, why can't they fund a couple months of internet bills?

I'm sure there are a handful of kids who don't have an ISP presence in their county but we don't need to open schools in NYFC to handle those cases.

kids arent doing school work during that time. So theyre probably trolling the boards here honestly. But during school, theyre doing schoolwork.

I think you underestimate instructor led classes. You cant just sit a kid in front of a computer for 8 hours a day and expect them to absorb all that information. Thats not how kids learn. When schools closed early this year parents were staying home and working with their children to help them with online classes. They no longer have that luxury.
