I love Environmental Station Alpha, but I just realized... ... why is there a temple on a space station?

Without having played the game I'll hazard a guess that they found a planet with an ecosystem, built a dome over a chunk of it, and ripped that chunk out of the planet. There just happened to be remnants of a civilization that came along with it.
