Poll of the Day > I'm thinking of buying an 8bitdo controller

My old wired Logitech controller from 2007 is starting to wear out. I have an 8bitdo adapter for my computer, but using a Switch Pro controller or PS4 controller on my PC with it isn't really that great. I'd like something more dedicated.

I'm torn between the Game Boy style one and the modern black one. I don't like that the button labels on the black one are dim (not that it really matters) and the black one looks like pretty much any other controller. The Game Boy one is more unique looking at least.

Anybody have one of these? Online reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Also, thoughts on the color scheme? There's a SNES one, too, but I really don't care for it.

Color-wise, the second looks clearly the way to go. I'm not a fan of the design itself, though.

In general, I *think* I have some dedicated PC controllers somewhere, but I've just been using my 360 controller when I very rarely use Steam. The bigger thing for me is wanting to use a fight stick, but I don't think my ps3 Hori one will work (which I'm not 100% sure where it is anyway)

Yeah, my issue is that most the PC games I play would rely on a good D pad. The Switch Pro has an awful D pad, and the PS4 controller has a miserable battery life. My PS4 controller also has analog stick issues that are alleviated by taking it apart and cleaning out the analog sticks, but it's really annoying to do that.

The switch pro controller shouldnt be a pain. It works perfect just plugged in via USB with a program called proconxinput

pro controller is fine, but those 8bitdo's are superior in every way for retro gaming, ok?

I have 2 8bitdo zero controllers just for screwing around with emus on my phone. I'm a fan. They make decent stuff if the zeros are any indication.

I absolutely love the Switch Pro controller for most games on the Switch. It just hasn't worked well as a retro controller on my PC.

I'll likely order one now for sure. Still leaning towards the Game Boy one.

I bought the Game Boy one! It'll arrive by Wednesday. I'll post my thoughts when I get it.

How's the d-pad on yours? I have an SF30 Pro it's way too easy to do diagonals. I've died in Contra several times because I was pressing right and it thought I was pressing right and down and I jumped down into an enemy or a pit.

What jokes are you talking about, old man? It was just a statement. Also,

I have both the SNES with analog sticks and without, and the one that looks like a NES controller but has the extra SNES buttons.

I hardly ever use the one with analog sticks at all - I don't think I've used it in a year or so - I don't have any comment on that one.

I use the NES one all the time, however, and haven't noticed any issues with the D-pad. I've mostly played RPGs with it, however, so there may be an issue that I am unaware of.

All of the 8bit do controllers I've gotten are awesome.

It arrived today. I've been testing it with my Switch, so far it's really good.

The D pad isn't perfect, but it's miles ahead of the Switch Pro Controller's D pad. My only issue so far has been that the analog sticks are a bit too sensitive. If, for example, you hold the analog stick completely down, and then let it go, it registers very briefly that you held it up. Same goes for left/right, which I noticed a few times while playing SSBU (my character would just turn around sometimes, really not good). I might have to use the software it connects with to adjust that.

so after 3 days of use, my new controller has become extremely laggy on switch. i updated the console firmware, the controller firmware, and even disconnected the joy cons, and the lag is still there, ok?

i think i may be sending this thing back to amazon, ok?

I'll watch out for that with mine. I don't plan on using it with my Switch much, though.

Didn't see it mentioned but the sn30pro+ has turbo.

Activate by pressing the button you want and the snapshot button.

Yes it takes a picture every time. But worth it for crafting fish bait in acnh.

Overall I love mine, although I have to stand very close to the switch for it to pair and it take a minute and several tries. That and the snapshot are the only drawbacks
