I ended up doing 2 pulls on the gacha and then bought 1 of each of the 150 packs. That gave me a pretty massive power score boost just from being able to field more weapons. I'm at like 31k now.

Also if the wall you hit is 4-10 Alice then 4-10 Alice is significantly harder than every other 4-10 boss. Like I was able to beat every other 4-10 boss at like 15-20k power score. For 4-10 Alice I manualed the fight at like 27k and still had people die.

Oh yeah? Huh, yeah it was 4-10 Alice. Guess I can go try the other chapter 4s first.

It pairing you with players of the same power score as you is both a blessing and a curse. Makes it hard to try accomplish some of the stage requirements on lower stages because everything dies so quick. I'm assuming it pairs based on main score / rank too as I'm using a lesser team right now (~25k) and it's pairing me with people at like 40k.

So if you are having difficulty clearing anything there's a way to be carried.

Go follow high power score accounts. Then change your co-op to selected friends and pick out those accounts. Whenever you do content after that, those are the people who will join you.

Granted, SINoAlice looks to have better marketing and has some recognition due to having Yoko Taro's name on it.

You get 1 SR and 4 S gears from them. All wind element.

I think it's worth buying one of each purely for the power boost. You could limit break them if you buy more but from what people have said, they get power crept pretty quick so not worth limit breaking them.

Another way of thinking about it is you're spending 300 for 2 SR and 8 S's. If you did a pull for 300 you're likely getting 0 SR and like 2-4 S. If you're lucky you might get 1 SR and a few S's. All the A gear is going to be worthless very quick so can be discounted

I ended up doing some 3 extra pulls because I needed to try get over 50k power score and I was hoping to get some S weapons to replace my A weapons.

Bad news. I did not get any usable S+ rank weapons for the main character I use. Good news. I got a dupe SR Cinderella Sword, the Alice SR Staff and the Pinocchio S Book. So in the space of 5 pulls total I got 3 class unlocks (technically I already had Cinderella's sword but the dupe is still useful). I ended up with 3 SR's across the 5 pulls (Cinderella, Alice and a non character SR)

From what I can tell you get a unique summon animation for SRs. Two of the times I got SR's the puppets cried about wanting more Rares and converted a normal book into a white book and the boy puppet gets messed up in the process. Not sure if this guarantees an SR or is merely giving you another S+ book

The other time I feel is more likely to be a guaranteed SR pull. The pull string fell off the roof to the floor when I pulled it and the boy puppets head rolls off when he drops down.

I don't think I'm going to spend anything else until the NieR collab. If I can't complete content right now, so be it. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to end up sticking with this in the long run anyway.

Right now I still have like 3800 crystals. I've used a few to refresh stamina too during the guerilla events since that's the quickest way to increasing power score

I shouldve checked the topic before rerolling I guess. Not sure Ill even play this long term anyways though so whatever. In the reroll process Ive seen very little of these banner characters after a TON of rolls so rates must be like Grand Order tier or something lol

Rates are 3% SR and 20% S for any individual pull. So not awful but certainly not good either. You're guaranteed

On the release banner it's 0.66% for a boosted SR character and 0.034% for non boosted. 3% for booster S character and 0.361% for non boosted S character.

That being said I don't think the initial roll uses the release banner as Nightmares are removed so the above rates are probably different and it seems you are always guaranteed an SR on your reroll pull which is not the case on a normal pull.

I might try again later, but I spent like 2 hours failing to reroll Alice lol

For what it's worth you don't specifically need to roll Alice's weapon to play Alice. All the weapon does is unlock her cleric class (plus is an SR stat stick). If you wanted to play Alice as a Breaker or Mage you can do that without that weapon as they are unlocked via story/missions

She has has what looks like Paladin that is unlockable via story too but that's pretty deep in. I haven't unlocked it yet and I have a 55k power score which is probably on the higher end of the player base

I guess I can run through the list of what is available right now to give you an idea of whether you really 'need' something from the reroll pull.

Pinocchio - Paladin (Will take a while if you save crystals for Nier though)

As for what the jobs do. Each job is basically separated into Vanguard / Rearguard.

Vanguard jobs can use Swords, Spears, Hammers, Bows
Rearguard jobs can use Books, Staffs, Orbs, Instruments

You will use 20 weapons at any given time so for the most part you will be using a mix of weapons. Each job gets a bonus type for a certain weapon type.

Vanguard Jobs

Breaker - Sword Bonus
Crusher - Hammer Bonus
Gunner - Bows Bonus
Paladin - Spear Bonus

Rearguard Jobs

Cleric - Staff Bonus
Mage - Orb Bonus
Minstrel - Instrument Bonus
Sorcerer - Book Bonus

So really the only class that you really need to unlock via the newbie reroll would be Gretel - Minstrel as Gretel is currently the only Minstrel in game. Everything else has either multiple characters with access to it or is freely available (I believe Alice is the only Mage available right now)

With that being said other characters will unlock Minstrel over time and at a quick glance, it seems that Red Riding Hoods Minstrel comes via event which will be free to obtain and not that far down the line (about 2 months depending on how the early Nier collab effects the schedule). Every other Minstrel looks to be Gacha only or way down the line.

Ideally you want to unlock as many classes as possible regardless because as you upgrade classes (and you'll upgrade everything you get as it's not hard) they give two types of bonuses

Class - Only applies when you are using that character and class (I.e. Cinderalla Breaker Class bonus does not apply when using Alice Breaker)

Common - Applies to all classes at all times (These are typically just stat boosts)

For reference this is what my account looks like to give you an idea of what will be unlocked within 1-2 weeks of play. I have spent zero money and have 3372 gems remaining (I've done 8 pulls and spent probably 200-300 on stamina refreshes to upgrade gear)

Off the initial reroll I stuck with Cinderella's SR with a dupe of it

I play as Cinderella Breaker but looking at my available weapons, I likely would be better off playing a rearguard job as I have significantly more rearguard weapons than vanguard weapons that as S+ rank. 3 SR + 11 S Vanguard weapons / 7 SR + 11 S Rearguard weapons.

Started it. Seems interesting but I legitimately have no idea what this gameplay is about.

Wound up getting Alice and Cinderella after like an hour of nothing worthwhile reroll wise so I just went with it. Just gonna clear Ch.1s for some free early characters since that seems like the best way to start?

Yep, you can basically sleepwalk auto battle all the way through every chapter 3 right from the start.

I would say don't give up on the game too early. Because of how easy it is to start it seems boring but the further you get in, the more interesting the battle system becomes. It's not super complicated or anything but the early part certainly isn't indicative of the game as a whole.

I'd say it picks up around the 30k power score mark.

Finished Chapter 1 of everyone! Current RANKINGS:

Cinderella > Snow White > Gretel > Red Riding Hood > Sleeping Beauty > Kaguya > Pinnochio > Alice

I actually like all of them though.

Not entirely sure what Im doing still. Beaten all of Ch.1 for Alice, Snow White, Cinderella and Gretel so far. Already out of inventory space apparently because of the endless rain of B upgrade drops

If you go to view/sell and the other/misc (I forget what it's called) section you probably have a ton of gold bags to sell.

Also, the game doesn't make it obvious but the cost to upgrade weapons is per item used rather than an exp gained and the cost depends on the current level of the item. So you always want to throw as much as you can at an item when it's lower level to keep costs down and you do not want to be using B swords on higher level equipment. Money crunch becomes a very real thing. I'm at the point where I only use B swords on lower level gear, even if I'm not using it now, because the exp/cost ratio to use them on higher level gear is not remotely worth it. They give like 200 exp and on high level stuff it costs 7-8k per sword used. So I only use S swords on high level gear now.

I just uninstalled. I love the atmosphere, art ,music, the story setup... but the gameplay barely even exists, and what there is is severely crippled by gacha.

Maybe I'll give the manga a whirl. The art is much worse, but hopefully the story's there.

For sure this is the case for me. All my gear is max level so needs evolving to improve my power score Evolving 1 piece of S gear, nevermind SR, takes an entire days worth of stamina if drops are favorable

My only other way of improving is class upgrades and every class I have is 8+ right now. And each upgrade is +50-100 to power score which is a drop in the ocean at this point.

I'm almost capped out on story progress. So I am like 1 day away from it being a login for 10 minutes each day plus guild war and that's it schedule.

For all this game's flaws, it gave me more Keiichi Okabe music

Dumped all my currency into the banner, didn't get A2, so I'm probably about done with this game. Wasn't really playing it much anyway. I think it was just a little too micro-manage-y for my tastes. I tend to have an aversion to gacha where you have to level like 10 different things on each character.

Just booted the game up for the first time tonight while I was stuck in a power outage and FGO was undergoing maintenance. I re-rolled until I got Cinderella/Breaker with an SR and Kaguya/Cleric with an S. Was a bit surprised to see the quantity of crystals you start out with, so I went directly to the Nier banner and spent 1200 of them and got both A2 and Emil.

Now it's time to actually see what the game's like.

Since I have both of the new classes, should I switch over to a different banner to better flesh out my weapons? The information the game gave about the step grimoire was was a bit lacking, but from what I understood, if you have the full 750 crystals to spend, you might as well do that one if you aren't looking for anything in particular, because you're at least guaranteed an SR in the batch.

Dupes aren't terrible but yes you could switch banner.

So uh.... I saved up 'til I had 1200 and rolled on it.

Step 1 gave me an S, a plain SR, and also the SR that unlocks Little Mermaid/Minstrel.

Guess I'll just pocket that leftover 1050. >__>
