Doesn't seem too complicated, weapons and such seem to be the main idea.

By default it has to be one of my favorite mobile games just because it seemingly has a chat feature where you can talk to random people you're in a game with.

Now if only it was a card game with that feature...

Feels like this game had been delayed for ages.

As a big fan of dark fairytales and stories-about-stories, I'm loving this so far.

Pity it's gacha instead of a proper game, but as long as I can make it through the main plot without going bankrupt, I'll probably be seeing a good chunk of this through.

Most gacha's I've played are fairly easy, main story wise. I can't say I've ever felt like I've had to pay to experience stuff.

This one seems fairly generous with things early on, especially given you can do infinite rerolls of your first multi.

I started playing and didnt know i could do infinite pulls early on. I did through chapter 2 of a character's story (snow white) and only had issues with the last stage of chapter 2 as I had to turn it off auto for it.

IMO the game doesn't really explain some things very well. I only know what's happening due to playing other gachas and rpgs. I didn't even know where the gacha section was at first because it's not very obvious.

Presentation wise it's very good. Although, for streaming I do wish it was a landscape game over portrait.

I mean the lack of instructions is definitely good for experienced gacha people, but wierd for a game that's trying to pull in new people to the genre through name recognition.

Oh. I would have never known that was the case without being told. I know it's in the OP title but I don't typically know director names without looking up the games they did.

I mean the only reason anybody cares about this game at all is Yoko Taro's name is on it.

Even the Wario64 tweet about it's release made sure to specify "the Yoko Taro game".

To be fair, I think the average joe wouldn neither know who Yoko Taro is or care about the director of the games they play. Only if you're following him, or his games would you know.

I think if you get one SR that unlocks a job, you're probably okay. Trying to get the perfect first roll is pretty tedious, even though the rerolls are free.

It's just a quick way to increase your rank. It stops being free once you hit rank 20.

Is it really that hard to reroll a good starting roll? It lets you reroll immediately by hitting summon another grimoire and it took me 4 rerolls to get 2 SR's with 1 of them being a class unlock.

I'm asking because I have no problem to keep going to try get better but maybe I got stupidly lucky from the get go.

You got pretty lucky, the pull rate on the class SRs is pretty low, below 1%.

If the gacha is just weapons then I dunno about this, there was a Tales one I dropped entirely because it was based on that. Still, have to at least give it the old college try.

You'll know when a weapon you pull unlocks a class, it's made very obvious.

The missus started an account and was able to get the same result in about 20 rerolls but that was her first roll with a class unlock on it.

I don't think it would be too hard to get a 2 SR account with at least 1 class because it seems you are guaranteed 1 SR per pull. Getting 3 SRs with a class unlock or trying to get 2 class unlocks is probably where it gets to be a pain. So I'd say at a minimum people should aim for 1 Class Unlock and 1 SR as it shouldn't take longer than 5-10 minutes.

Screw it, I'll keep trying for science just to see how miserable it is to get a better starting account than that. If I don't get anything in 20 minutes I'll just take a similar start

So 11 minutes of rerolling and that's when I started this post.It's where I'm probably stopping.

In those 11 minutes, notable rerolls I got:

1 roll with 1 Class unlock only
3 rolls with 1 Class unlock + 1 SR (best had 4 S's with it too)
1 roll with 2 Class unlocks + 1 SR (plus 2 S)

I am probably taking the 2 class unlock reroll. I would have without hesitation except the 2 class unlocks are duplicates so really it's more like a 1 class unlock + 2 SR roll. I'm looking up what dupes do first before deciding.

Dupes work like Granblue Fantasy (and most games). Use a dupe to limit break the original. So guess I'll keep that roll.

Maybe. Not sure.

But considering the FF crossover in FF14 is supposedly canon, I'd say it's possible.

I think the game will have to significantly change as you get higher level to retain people because right now the gameplay is ultra boring.

I'm kind of enjoying the fact that I don't really need to pay too much attention to it while I'm grinding out the early stuff.

Yeah for the early stuff it's fine but it's going to have to change later on otherwise people won't keep playing. Right now you can just stick on auto and just keep hitting through everything without even paying attention.

Personal preference but I also don't like that you only get to use 1 character.

So what should someone be rerolling for?

At least 1 Class Unlock SR (it makes it super obvious when you get one). I would personally say make sure you get 1-2 SR's too given how many times I was able to get that combination in an 11 minute period.

Rates are really bad on class unlocks so you definitely want to make sure you guarantee yourself one to start with.

From what I've read it doesn't matter which class unlock you get so that would be personal preference.

I rolled a bunch of times without any class unlocks. Just got one but the only other rare in the pull is an S. I'll probably just go with it.

My general impression from folks who were up on the Japanese version as of a month or so ago was that the game never really got exciting. Wouldn't take that as gospel, but that's what I heard!

The guild colosseum is fun but the fact that it's once a day for 20 minutes only and required to complete dailies is kind of balls.

Im dabbling a bit still. Kinda hit a bit of a wall in the story and now need to grind out my weapons so Im kinda losing it a bit. Colosseum is definitely balls, even if the actual mechanics are neat.

Ill at least play until the NieR stuff drops.
