What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually around a week before the end of the month
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for every selected game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be unique from all other nominations and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a selected game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month

I've lost two cats in the past three months, and it was nice having a cat game the month following the first's death, so I am going to nominate this month games where the main character is a cat or you can choose to play as a cat.

I began Sleeping Dogs last night. I played the original version in like 2013, so I remembered they would track some random stuff. I have around eight people in my friends list who played this and very early in the game, you get on a motorcycle. I was apparently the second person who even attempted to do a wheelie on it. My 12 seconds, which isn't impressive, in that opening stretch shattered the other person's record of like three seconds.

I'm about a third of the way through Sleeping Dogs. I'm basically doing all the side quests as they pop up, so I'm surprised that I'm as far as I am

For anyone planning to play The Silver Case, my friend showed me this advice.

I went through the game a few months ago, and I did not do in that order, but I have been told by multiple people that I should have.

This isn't a spoiler or anything, but I will tag my feelings anyway.

However, all I found all the Placebo cases very tedious and dull and revealed very little in the way of new information, so I can't see how it would have mattered in my case.

I'm over halfway done with story missions in Sleeping Dogs. When it get in the zone with an open-world game, especially one that was inspired a lot by the early-mid 2000-era GTAs, it can be hard for me to put down and play another single player game, but I also started Mulaka.

Combat is...something. I like everything else a lot, but the combat leaves a lot to be desired, and really I just have problems with small enemies. These scorpions should not give me trouble, but given how fast they are and jump all over the place, the lack of a lock-on button and tiny hitboxes for those enemies makes it frustrating. I tend to just sit back without alerting them of my presence and hit them with my spear until they fall dead.

I've been playing The Silver Case. Just finished Placebo 1. Definitely an interesting game so far and I look forward to seeing what happens next here.

I'm still chipping away at Sleeping Dogs. I kind of got in a mood to do races and events, so I am only 2/3 of the way through the story missions. I might try to make a big push to finish it within the next several days since I am also early in Mulaka.

KCF has beaten Sleeping Dogs

Well that was quick. I still kept doing side stuff, but the last third of the main game just flew by. Anyway, Grand Theft Auto III is one of the most influential games of all-time, but I always loved the modern-ish urban setting, and not that came after emulated that part of the game.Sleeping Dogs is still probably the best of them.

My general feelings from seven years ago basically remain the same today. Sleeping Dogs isn't an especially memorable game, but it is very good is virtually every phase of the game. My main issues are there are just way too many obstacles everywhere that you get penalized for touching in story missions and simply halt the flow in races/chases, and also the story kind of fizzles out at around the halfway mark.

I've very glad that I revisited it though with a superior version (even if it did crash on me like eight times)

I'm starting to come around to Mulaka's combat now. I mean, it is still the weakest part of the game, but I've actually liked the boss battles, and I've done better when it comes to certain enemies.

That was definitely an interesting game. I plan to play the rest of the games in this series, continuing on with Flower, Sun, and Rain next at some point.

KCF has beaten Mulaka

It started out a by-the-numbers action-adventure game that as I mentioned before was reminiscent of Okami in many ways. As the game progressed and you gained more powers, they really ramped up the platforming aspects.

For my final nom, I will do Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and I guess if it wins, I will play as only the cat characters (Tiny, Pura, and any others that may be exclusive to the remake).

If this should win, my understanding is that the original 1999 version should still be eligible as this is a largely faithful remake that includes additional content from other Crash racing games.
