The movie was a huge mess and all over the place but some parts were amazing. Like the singalong segment at the party with cameos from different Eurovision stars.

Also, this is like Will Ferrell's most mature performance.

He actually didn't purposely be a stupid idiot like in his usual movies. Only truly dumb thing his character did was not realize the girl was into him.

Otherwise:
1. The char was a hard worker
2. The char didn't make ridiculous jokes all the time or tbh at all
3. All the bad things were mostly bad luck that we are supposed to attribute to his lack of foresight, except that tbh they were unrealistic to happen if this wasn't a movie

So most of the comedy was mocking eurovision. Tbh, could have had any male lead actor and it retain the movie as it was.

The character driven parts of the plot jump from thing to thing and doesnt make sense a lot of the time.

The portrayal of different European nationalities feels really forced and dated.

The parts about Eurovision itself are accurate (they only focus on the crazy and cheesy parts though) but why do the hosts speak broken Eastern/Southern European English if this edition of the Contest is held in the UK? And about 5 countries got a fictional entry in this movie. Two of those are Greece and Sweden, who both are known for having a certain style in Eurovision. Neither entry sounded like something Greece or Sweden would send. Details like that give an impression of poor research ahead of the movie.

Movie wasn't very funny, but the running with wolves song and the lion love song were catchy. Wish we got a proper uninterrupted version of double trouble too, since that was pretty good.

Nobody could do a proper accent of anything though lol. Dan Stevens was sounding like Tommy Wiseau at times.

I enjoyed this movie... but... I was expecting more from Will Ferrel's voice.

Guess nothing can top his Por Ti Volare in Step Brothers though.
