Why would i go around thanking people for doing their job? Why do cops expect it when other professions dont?

I dont hear drs, nurses, firefighters, etc acting like they should be told thanks by the public regularly.

Ive said thanks to a cop when theres a reason but just randomly? No. Thats dumb.

I know there's a cop who lives in my apartment building, there's a state trooper car parked in one of the assigned garage spots. It actually does make me feel safer, although the kids who keep smoking kush in the stairwells don't seem to be aware. Which they should be, because their escape route literally takes them through the garage and right past the car lmfao hahahaha

I guess but tbf thats a special circumstance and people were even trying to get shows of thanks for retail workers and others stuck working in the pandemic. Pretty much any essential service there was a push for that.

I thanks to Firemen, dog catchers ( I made a few post about that, he was really cool) , Doctors, Nurses, People at work at Fast Food places, Teachers , mimes , Postal workers, Pilots , a ton of people who had to come into work at my job , Dancers, Football players , Cole form Martin.

I did last week. Got pulled over by a cop because my headlight was out. 30ish, around my age. After handing me back my license he said get it fixed and he'll let me on my way. I say, "Thank you officer, and be safe. There's a lot of anti-cop stuff out there right now but there are plenty of people out here who appreciate all you do for our community to keep it safe. There are good cops out there." He gives me a big smile and says, "Thank you, I appreciate that. Have a good one." I don't envy their jobs right now, it must be beyond fucked and scary to be a cop now. It's often a thankless job, but with the crime and lawlessness going on, we need them more than ever now, and know decent law abiding people appreciate them.

My neighbor is a police officer. Not only do I not thank her for her service, but I scowl at her every time I see her in the yard. I also forbid my kids from walking in front of her house in fear that she will fly out in some rabid cop rage and kill them.
