From the FAQ:
Im eligible for a free copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.COM, but I dont see any information about it in GOG GALAXY 2.0. What should I do?

An update to the app is needed, so please make sure you have the latest version (Windows 2.0.16.187, macOS 2.0.16.200). If the update is not triggered automatically after launching the application, please wait a couple of minutes and a pop up should appear. If it doesnt, you can go to www.gogalaxy.com and clicking the DOWNLOAD GOG GALAXY banner will trigger the update without downloading the installer.
I have closed the banner with the option to claim The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Can I still take part in the event?

Go to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game view within your owned games library in GOG GALAXY 2.0. There you will see a banner that will allow you to take part in the event.
Which The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt releases are eligible for this action?

PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Origin and Epic Games versions of:

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of the Year Edition

I own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch, will I receive a GOG.COM copy as well?

Since there is no Nintendo Switch integration, owners of the Switch edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Complete Edition won't be eligible to benefit from this action.
Which version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will I receive?

That depends. If you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt version of the game, youll receive the same version on GOG.COM (if you have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt version of the game with any or all DLCs, youll also receive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt).
If you have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition (or more than one version of the Witcher 3, out of which at least one is the GOTY Edition), youll receive the GOTY Edition on GOG.COM as well.
I own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt base game + expansions, will I receive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition?

No, you will receive The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Only owners of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition can claim it as part of this event.
I have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.COM, but The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition on a different platform, will I receive The GOTY Edition on GOG.COM?

Yes, the GOTY Edition will be added to your GOG.COM library.
What happens if I own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on multiple platforms (like Steam, PS4, XBOX)? Will I receive only one game?

Yes, even if you own the game on multiple platforms, youll receive one copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.COM.
What happens if I already have the same version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in my GOG.COM library and a different platform can I still participate in this offer?

If you already have The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in your GOG.COM library, you can still take advantage of this offer and receive a giftable code of the game (either The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY Edition depending on the version you own) valid for a week.
How long does this event last?

The offer is valid until June 23rd, 11am UTC.

Some people are happy to claim a game everywhere they can given the option, even if just as a backup. If nothing else, this is a version for PC if they just owned it on console.

Yes and no. Being GOG, it's a DRM-free copy, so you can potentially make use of it in scenarios where you can't use a DRM-locked one. In practice, Steam's offline mode works well enough that short-term loss of Internet won't cause any problems with accessing a copy, so that's not really that big of an issue and this isn't going to help all that much, but it's not inconceivable that a GOG copy will end up working more reliably. It also offers peace of mind for those that don't like DRM-locked stuff, though realistically such people probably went with GOG for their first purchase of the game anyway for that reason.

More saliently, though, this is GOG attempting to establish themselves as the one-stop shop for digital games as the market fragments further and further. GOG Galaxy 2.0 already offers the ability to condense libraries from multiple storefronts into a single client, and they've had quite a few other periods where they've offered free GOG copies of games if you've purchased a copy on Steam or whatnot. With the market fragmenting the way it is, people are generally going to gravitate toward buying new games on the platform that already has most of their library on it (which, for most people, is Steam). Epic's trying to solve that problem by increasing the percentage of their offerings that are exclusive to them. GOG's effectively taking the opposite approach and trying to increase the overlap between people's GOG and Steam libraries such that Steam no longer holds the majority.

This is perfect timing, I was just considering getting on PC during the next time it's on sale, now I don't have too. Would be nice if they could start doing it for other games, but I'd understand if that's too hard to do with series they don't own.

We can always hope they expand GOG Connect to other systems, but then I'll be worried about my two PSN accounts. Not a worry here when it is just one game, but unsure what will happen if it expands.

XBox One / PS4, claiming from there will get you whatever version you have, standard edition (owned DLCs won't count) or GotY edition of the game. Steam right now, you get the base game no matter what you own there, because of how Steam works, but they are hoping to fix that for people with the GotY edition.

Sorry. They can glance at the owned games but not DLCs.

PS4 games I've played appear on my account, both physical titles and games from the US account. Not sure about XBox though.
