is the lack to focus i guess.

I can never stick to one thing. Back when I played MTG it was hella expensive because I had 10+ high teir decks because I got bored playing the same more than a couple of times.

Even getting into wow, I have about a dozen characters and switch almost daily, with only one being 120.

I am like this on almost everything gaming related and I am not sure how to focus on to one thing.

Same, I switch between games a lot, play one for a few hours day, switch to another one, then another one and end up never finish the former ones.

If you take 110% of what I say seriously then you're gonna have a bad time.

Don't buy new games until you finish the ones you're playing.

What if you buy more than one at the same time?

Its not games that are the problem. It's the characters/decks/etc that's the problem.

I can play a game for ages, but the problem is not being able to stick to one class or what ever. In BL2 I had dozens of characters as an example. And this is also why I can never get good at games like SC2 since I jump between the races so much and can never really master one since I get bored and jump to another.

I've never done this. I finish a game then look to buy another. I don't share the TCs problem so can't relate. Maybe though that's because most the time the games I play have a pre set character that I follow through the game.

I'm thinking more digital games than physical.

Why would you only buy one digital game at a time? Especially when sales are time limited.

Sales are limited by physical media too. The fact of the matter is I like to fully commit to one game at a time thus I give it my focus.

Is that a problem? If you enjoy playing games a certain way, do it.

I've noticed this too as I've gotten older. The more games I end up buying, the less enticed I am to actually finish them.

I found taking a break from all gaming helps with this. I'll usually start reading books or pick up another hobby for a week or so then get back into gaming.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was, and now what I'm with isn't it. And what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

How about games like Rimworld or Oxygen Not Included, where it's expected/required to change focus once in a while?

As long as youre having fun and getting you moneys worth, it should be fine...

It can still apply. Just finish both/all before buying new games.

This isnt really a problem unless you have to master something. Personally, I use to do this as a kid. Id have multiple files for a game to try out all the characters and stuff like that. Its not a bad idea, either. Its gotten me to try out characters who were really fun that I may have never played as is I only picked one or a couple different ones. And in certain games, it can help you to understand how the other person is playing to make it easier to work with or against them...

Oh. That could work. Or a game where you have to either change things up often or change characters a lot can help with keeping a game feeling fresh... maybe...

Well I guess it doesn't help that the last two games I bought together will both be 100 hours+

I'm the same way. I've tried many times to do the games as a service thing, but I just can't. I like variety. I don't understand how people can play the same game for so damn long, ok?

True. And it would mean it would probably be a long time before you bought another one...

Depends on the game and person. For certain multiplayer games, each match can be very different. Which helps. For single player games, it can be harder if the game doesnt do anything to keep it fresh. Like how TMS keeps adding new things as you keep playing, as an example...

My bro loves Fifa and has played for years. I'm jealous I can't enjoy a game that long ok?

Nah I'll still buy more. I guess I already did if you count activating something I already paid for.

I either hyper fixate or can't concentrate on one thing for shit, nothing in between.

And I still can't explain it.

That's also fine. I personally will just keep buying games. I will finish when I have time. And if not, it's something to go back to when I run out of them...
