Sephiroth: Hello, and welcome to week 2 of the Smash Ultimate Fighting League. I am your host, Sephiroth, joined as always by my host, Crono!

Crono: It'll be nice just to be ourselves this week. No need to hide behind a mystery name, and that's why it is always a pleasure.

Sephiroth: Yes, I'm looking forward to just letting everything out this week. It was tough to hold back last week. Well, you're not here to hear from us, so let's get into this week's matches!

Heavyweight Tournament

Fight 1: Cloud Strife vs. Simon Belmont

Sephiroth: Ah, my old friend Cloud is up first. Ill definitely be keeping a keen eye on this one.

*Cloud goes on the offensive to start off and racks up a lot of damage on Simon. A Smash Ball appears and it looks like Simon is about to get it, but Cloud knocks him aside and takes it for himself. However, instead of using it right away, he charges up his side-smash and crushes Simon for a KO (Cloud 3-2)*

Crono: Smart move on Clouds part saving the Final Smash for when it will be more effective, knowing he could KO Simon with a normal attack instead.

*As soon as Simons invincibility frames wear off, Cloud slams him with his Final Smash, quickly evening their percentages. Then Clouds Limit Break fill up and he hits Simon with a fully charged neutral-B. However, Simon perseveres and knocks Cloud off the stage and follows it up with a neutral-air for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Hahaha, that Limit Break isnt an instant win for you like it is in your own game, is it, Cloud?

*Simon initially starts off aggressive when Cloud comes back, but eventually he starts hanging back due to his high percentage, but this lets Cloud fill up his Limit Break again, and he once again blasts Simon with a fully charged neutral-B, this time for the KO (Cloud 2-1)*

Crono: Simon has yet to adjust to Clouds tactics, so why change them up if hes going to keep falling for it?

*Simon returns and goes back on the attack, dealing heavy damage to Cloud. When a Smash Ball appears, he breaks it open and looks for the right chance to use it. Once again, Clouds Limit Break fills up and he tries to use his neutral-B yet again, but Simon hops over it and blasts him with his Final Smash for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Hahaha, it looks like Simon saw it coming and baited Cloud into it this time. Brilliantly played.

*Simon tries to play keep away since hes on his last stock at a percentage disadvantage, but this lets Cloud fill up his Limit Break once more. He hits Simon with a fully charged neutral-B and nearly KOs him to end the match, but Simon manages to hang on and get back to the stage. He distracts Cloud with a down-B and then hits him with a neutral-B to KO him and win the match (Simon wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Simon wins! It looks like Cloud wasnt strong enough on his own. Well, if you need help getting to the next level, you know where to find me.

Crono: Impressive win for Simon, considering Cloud was ahead of him nearly the entire match, either in stock count or percentage. It was a very evenly fought match in terms of damage.

Match 2: Ryu vs. Piranha Plant

Sephiroth: This is certainly not the type of opponent Ryu is used to facing, so well see how he fares here.

*Ryu tries to fight at long range, as well as trying to hit and run, but it isnt very effective and he falls behind Piranha Plant in percentage. Then he finally decides to take the fight straight to him and quickly gets the advantage in percentage. A Smash Ball appears, and Ryu gets it and blasts Piranha Plant with it for the KO (Ryu 3-2)*

Crono: Nice to see Ryu quickly adjust to his opponent and take the early lead.

*Piranha Plant starts hitting Ryu from the instant he reappears and blasts him with a few neutral-Bs until they result in a KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Ryu didnt seem to know how to react to the unusual properties of Piranha Plants projectiles, and it cost him big time.

*Ryu comes back fighting hard as well, hitting Piranha Plant with his specials, but then Piranha Plant gets very aggressive and slams Ryu with some hard hitting smashes, eventually KOing him with a side-smash (Piranha Plant 2-1)*

Crono: Piranha Plant has a clear power advantage in this fight. Ryu cant try to simply out-punch his opponent and hope to win.

*Ryu is determined to get Piranha Plant down to his last stock while taking as little damage as possible. He nearly KOs him with a couple of air attacks, but whiffs when he follows him offstage and nearly self-destructs. However, he gets back to the stage and KOs Piranha Plant with an up-smash (1-1)*

Sephiroth: That was very nearly disastrous, but that was a good bounce back from Ryu to stay in the match.

*Piranha Plant apparently decided it was time to stop messing around, as he started dodging most of Ryus attacks and blasting him with all of his strongest attacks. He would blow through his Focus Attacks and poison him when he tried to come back to the stage. Finally, he lures Ryu into a neutral-B to end the match (Piranha Plant wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Piranha Plant wins! Who knew a plant in a pipe could fight so well?

Crono: Piranha Plant with an impressive display of agility for someone his size and, uh, shape, all things considered. He kept Ryu on his toes most of the match and rallied from an early deficit to win.

Match 3: Ken vs. Incineroar

Sephiroth: Can Ken succeed where Ryu failed, and can the plucky underdog Pokemon win yet again?

*Both sides come out dealing heavy damage and powerful hits. Incineroar keeps catching Ken in his side-B and nearly KOs him with it twice, but Ken manages to get back to the stage both times. Ken incapacitates Incineroar with his Focus Attack but cant capitalize for the KO, but he eventually catches him with his up-smash as he recovers to the stage for a KO at 175% (Ken 3-2)*

Crono: Wow, this feels like a heavyweight slugfest! Im enjoying seeing all the strength on display.

*Incineroar charges after Ken to try to eliminate him quickly, but then a Smash Ball appears and Ken grabs it, so Incineroar starts keeping his distance, which results in Ken accumulating a lot of damage with his side-B. Then Ken takes a big risk and uses his Final Smash while both characters are off the side of the stage, but he misses. Incineroar starts fighting aggressively again, and catches Ken with his side-B once again, finally KOing him at 175% (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Risky move by Ken there that didnt quite pay off, but I can respect that he went for it, if nothing else. You cant fight scared out there.

*Ken comes back swinging, quickly getting Incineroar up to 120% before he ever takes damage on his new stock. Incineroar gets a few light shots in, but Ken blasts him with his side-smash for the KO (Ken 2-1)*

Crono: Wow, Ken isnt holding anything back. Incineroar barely has any room to breathe.

*Incineroar tries to KO Ken quickly to even things up, but he cant manage it. They fight off the side of the stage for a bit and Ken nearly falls to his doom but fights his way back up. A Smash Ball appears and the two fight over it. Ken nabs it again, and once again, Incineroar gets hesitant, and eventually Ken baits him into the Final Smash for the win (Ken wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Ken wins! He reverses his own fortunes and those of the Pokemon series as well.

Crono: Incineroar fought well when he played to his strengths, but he cant fight scared like that when the enemy has a Final Smash ready. He cant hope to do well if he wont get up in his opponents face.

Match 4: Terry Bogard vs. Samus Aran

Sephiroth: Weve got one of the original Smash fighters against one of the newest newcomers. Should be interesting to see if Samus can use her experience (and the home stage advantage) to come out on top.

*Terry starts off attacking like a wild man, and Samus punishes him and keeps him at bay with her projectiles. Then Terry starts landing his specials and links them together to brutalize Samus. He eventually sends her flying off the top of the screen with his up-B (Terry 3-2)*

Crono: Wow, Terry is undaunted by his early deficit or the pressure of fighting someone of Samuss caliber. The dudes got guts.

*When Samus comes back, she wastes no time going after Terry and KOs him after two smashes without taking any damage to even the match (2-2)*

Sephiroth: I always enjoy it when someone attacks with such savage ferocity.

*As soon as Terry returns, a Smash Ball appears and both fighters spend a lot of time knocking each other away from it. Terry eventually breaks it, but Samus goes full blast and eventually hits it out of him and claims it for herself. She sets up Terry and blasts him with her Final Smash, but he manages to survive. After dealing some more damage, Terry clobbers her with a fully powered neutral-B for the KO (Terry 2-1)*

Crono: The sheer tenacity and willpower it took for Terry to survive and then take the lead was something else.

*Once again, Samus wastes no time evening things up. She sends him flying with a side-smash, and when he tries to recover, she jumps off and KOs him with a side-air, once again taking no damage in the process (1-1)*

Sephiroth: You can tell Samus is the wily veteran here, doing her best to keep things even going into the final stock.

*Both sides hold nothing back on the last stock, blasting each other with their most powerful attacks. Eventually a Smash Ball drops right in between them, and Terry manages to grab it. However, he winds up not needing it, as he nails Samus with back-to-back neutral-Bs to finish the match (Terry wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Terry wins! Wow, that might have been the best fight Ive seen thus far. Both fighters gave it everything they had.

Crono: This fight was about as even as it gets, as Terry dealt one more percent than he received, and Samus took three more percent than she received.

Match 5: Pokemon Trainer vs. Solid Snake

Sephiroth: The Noble Nine isnt off to a good start in these tournaments, but maybe Snake can turn it around for them (but hopefully not).

*Pokemon Trainer starts with Squirtle, who uses his quickness to deal good damage and avoid getting hit. Snake nails him with a couple of explosives, and the Trainer switches to Ivysaur, who really has no success against Snake. Then he quickly switches to Charizard, who hits Snake with an up-air and then an up-smash to send him off the top of the screen for the KO (3-2 Trainer)*

Crono: Pokemon Trainer wisely recognizes when one thing isnt working and seamlessly switches to the next thing, keeping Snake off his guard.

*Snake comes rolling into Charizard and hits him with a few combos to force the switch to Squirtle. A Smash Ball appears and Squirtle grabs it, but Snake quickly knocks it out of him. Then Pokemon Trainer switches to Ivysaur, who gets it, but once again, Snake knocks it loose. Ivysaur gets it yet again, and knocks Snake off the side and tries to finish him with the Final Smash. However, it doesnt hit him full on and he survives. Pokemon Trainer switches back to Charizard, and he knocks Snake off the side, who nearly gets trapped underneath the stage for a KO. However, he cleverly blows himself up with a down-B to give himself another up-B to get back to the stage. He hits Charizard with a devastating up-smash for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Thats the type of resolve that makes you understand why they call him the man who makes the impossible possible. It sickens me.

*Unfortunately, Snake is too beat up from trying to survive the Final Smash and the onslaught, so when Pokemon Trainer comes back, he switches quickly from Squirtle to Ivysaur, who KOs Snake with an up-smash (Trainer 2-1)*

Crono: Snake was easy pickings. All the effort just to get that one KO took too much out of him.

*Snake comes back fighting very aggressively and forces the Trainer to rapidly switch from Ivysaur to Charizard. Snake nearly KOs Charizard with an up-tilt but the Trainer switches to Squirtle in the middle of it. Squirtle knocks Snake off the stage, and he botches the recovery with his up-B yet again. Unfortunately, he already planted a mine on the stage, so when he tries to use his down-B, he actually blasts Squirtle with it for a KO, but he gets KOd and is eliminated an instant later (Trainer wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Pokemon Trainer wins! Hahaha, Snake might have outsmarted himself in this match. Get rid of these old fossils and bring in the best the Noble Nine has to offer!

Crono: Pokemon Trainer did a good job of rotating through his Pokemon, who were able to keep Snake off of his game through their varied styles. Snake could never really figure out the best way to approach the fight.

Middleweight Tournament

Battle 1: Lucas vs. Lucina

Sephiroth: Two characters with similar names squaring off today. This could be confusing.

*Lucas tries to fight at a distance but Lucina relentlessly pursues him and piles on the damage. She pushes him off the side of the stage, but he uses his up-B to recover and blast Lucina at the same time. This seems to change the tenor of the fight as Lucina starts backpedaling and Lucas chases her off the other side of the stage, dealing damage all the while. Once again, he uses his up-B to light Lucina up for heavy damage. She tries to run away again, but Lucas hits her with a meteor strike after knocking her off the side for the KO (Lucas 3-2)*

Crono: Its crazy how one move can change the entire flow of the match, but were seeing it in action.

*Lucina returns and starts using her agility and the long reach of her sword to try to KO Lucas, but to no avail. Eventually, Lucas regains his composure and starts dealing some damage of his own. A Smash Ball drops in the middle of the stage, and Lucina goes after it but cant quite break it. Lucas uses his neutral-B to knock Lucina off the stage and crack open the Smash Ball. He immediately uses his Final Smash to KO Lucina (Lucas 3-1)*

Sephiroth: It seems every time Lucina looks poised to make a move, Lucas slams the door shut right in her face.

*Lucina comes back and, after a few misses, hits Lucas with an air-tilt to finally KO him (Lucas 2-1)*

Crono: You cant help but be impressed at how resilient Lucas is despite his size. It took Lucina this long just to get her first KO.

*Lucina and Lucas fight evenly for a while. Then Lucina knocks him off the stage and tries to go for the meteor strike but cant quite hit it. Lucas uses his up-B to recover and very nearly bounces Lucina off the underside of the stage to her defeat, but she manages to get back to the stage. She knocks him off the stage again and tries to chase him, but he hits her with his up-B again. At this point, Lucina is clearly rattled. She quickly dashes back and forth doing nothing, getting hit a few times by Lucass neutral-B until he finally finishes her off (Lucas wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Lucas wins! Hes establishing himself as a force to be reckoned with in this league after just a few matches.

Crono: Yet another strong performance by Lucas, who grabbed the advantage early on in the match and never let Lucina get back into it.

Match 2: Luigi vs. Toon Link

Sephiroth: Here we have an odd matchup of two characters famous for how they altered the course of history by their failures in 2003. Which one of them will be a failure again today?

*Luigis movements are spastic at first, as he wildly swings and misses a bunch, and Toon Link punishes him for it. Eventually, Luigi gets his act together and strings together some hits, but he cant seem to avoid Toon Links bombs. After racking up 150% damage, Toon Link hits Luigi with his up-air for a KO (Toon Link 3-2)*

Crono: Luigi needs to settle down before this match gets away from him. Hes performing like a rank amateur out there.

*A Smash Ball lands on the edge of the stage, and after knocking it off the side once, Toon Link breaks it open when it reappears. Luigi tries to knock it out of him, but Toon Link pushes him away with an attack and then unleashes his Final Smash on him for a savage KO (Toon Link 3-1)*

Sephiroth: Luigi showing why hell always be the king of second bananas, hahaha!

*Luigi is still struggling to get his offense going and cant consistently land his attacks. Then he nearly KOs Toon Link with his side-air. He finally lands a charged side-B for a KO at 160% (Toon Link 2-1)*

Crono: Luigi finally gets the KO, but hes going to have to put together a steady offense to make the comeback.

*Luigi cant seem to find an answer for Toon Links bombs and keeps getting hit by them. He tries to jump around and take the fight into the air, but Toon Link doesnt fall for it. Both sides accumulate a lot of damage on the other, but Luigi lures Toon Link into his up-smash for a KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Luigi is used to being behind, so maybe that was what he needed to start taking this match seriously.

*Unfortunately, Luigi was already at 140%, so Toon Link quickly knocks Luigi off the stage and then clobbers him with his side-air to KO him and end the match (Toon Link wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Toon Link wins! Back to being the eternal understudy for you, Luigi!

Crono: Poor debut for Luigi, who often flailed around out there and didnt seem to know what he was doing half the time. Good job on Toon Links part to take advantage of it and appropriately punish him for it.

Match 3: Ice Climbers vs. Pac-Man

Sephiroth: Weve got an old school battle on our hands, but how did this become a 2-on-1 fight?

*Pac-Man is a bit shaky at first, but once he lands his down-B, he realizes he can have success with it and starts throwing it out regularly. He even uses Nanas head at one point to jump up and strike Popo. Pac-Man hits a side-smash to knock the Climbers off the side, and while Popo makes it back, Nana falls short. Popo is undeterred as he keeps bringing the fight to Pac-Man and nearly KOs him with an up-smash. Pac-Man nearly KOs Popo with his side-air and takes advantage of the distant between them to shuffle between his projectiles and KOs him with the key (Pac-Man 3-2)*

Crono: Valiant effort by Popo despite being at half strength, but he came up just short.

*When both of the Ice Climbers return, they doggedly pursue Pac-Man and eventually KO him after a couple of up-airs (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Good work by the Ice Climbers not to waste any time getting the match evened up.

*A Smash Ball appears as Pac-Man is eliminated, and the Ice Climbers break it open before he respawns. As soon as his invincibility frames wear off, they activate the Final Smash and rack up good damage since the stage is too small for Pac-Man to avoid it. However, Pac-Man chases them off the stage and Popo makes a mistake getting back to the stage and goes down at only 20% (Pac-Man 2-1)*

Crono: Ouch, it looked like the Ice Climbers were set to take control of the match. That was an unfortunate setback.

*The Ice Climbers stay on the attack and chase Pac-Man all over the stage, racking up damage and trying to keep their own damage low. They nearly KO him with an up-air but he barely survives, but when he comes back down, they hit him with an air-tilt to get the job done on the second try (1-1)*

Sephiroth: You can sense the raw determination from the Ice Climbers, fighting to stay in this match,

*Both sides fight hard on the final stock, and eventually Pac-Man knocks them off the side and goes for the meteor strike with his down-B from above. It doesnt quite connect, but it still prevents Popo from getting back to the stage (Pac-Man wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Pac-Man wins! He might want to count himself lucky though, but sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

Crono: The Ice Climbers probably wouldve won if not for that bad mistake that led to an early KO. It just goes to show you that one small mistake can completely change the course of a match.

Match 4: Corrin vs. Joker

Sephiroth: In this match, weve got Corrin facing off against Joker, but not the one you may normally think of. What kind of guy hides behind a mask anyway?

*Both sides fight to a stalemate early on, with neither fighter landing any power shots. Then Joker brings out Arsene, and it looks like hes going to overpower Corrin, but he doesnt backpedal at all. He nearly pushes Joker off the side of the stage beyond recovery and then nearly KOs him with his up-smash. Its not until Arsene vanishes that Joker is able to send Corrin bouncing off the front of the screen with his up-smash (Joker 3-2)*

Crono: Arsene is definitely a game changer in Jokers favor most of the time, so good on Corrin for not being intimidated by him.

*Corrin tries to even things out immediately with his neutral-B a couple of times but cant quite finish the job, and Joker takes advantage of it to pile on the damage. A Smash Ball appears, and despite repeated hits, Joker cant break it open. Corrin takes it with one hit, but before he can use it, Joker knocks it out of him. Corrin proceeds to clobber Joker with his up-smash for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Smash Balls are serious business around here.

*Corrin takes advantage of Jokers absence to reclaim the Smash Ball, and after a few hits to set it up, he lands his Final Smash, which doesnt instantly KO Joker because of his low percentage. However, it pushes him beyond his ability to recover to the stage (Corrin 2-1)*

Crono: A Final Smash doesnt have to be an instant kill to be effective, as Corrin showed us right there.

*Joker returns the favor by knocking Corrin off the side, which doesnt initially do the trick, but after an attack to knock him off guard, Joker jumps off of the top of Corrins head, which pushes him down too far to get back to the stage (1-1)*

Sephiroth: I feel like Joker is the master of jumping from place to place.

*Joker nearly baits Corrin into falling for the same trick and KOing him at 0% but it doesnt quite work. Then Arsene reappears and he wastes no time evening their percentages. After Arsene vanishes, Joker lures Corrin into his side-smash for the KO and the win (Joker wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Joker wins! That was an impressive performance by Joker to win despite being down late.

Crono: This was a fun back and forth match. I had no idea who was going to win until the very end.

Match 5: Mii Brawler (Knuckles) vs. Mario

Sephiroth: We saw these two go at it in the Free for All Tournament last week. How will they fare when we reduce it to a one-on-one fight?

*Both fighters come out swinging and build up percentage quickly. Brawler nails Mario from above with his down-B, and Mario seems to go on the defensive from there. Brawler doesnt let him get away and KOs him with his side-smash (Brawler 3-2)*

Crono: Hes called the Brawler for a reason. Mario isnt going to win a slugfest against him.

*Mario uses his agility to keep Brawler off balance, attacking him from one side and jumping to the other side, but Brawler baits Mario into his neutral-B to pummel him for good damage. They take the fight off the side of the stage and Mario clobbers Brawler with his air-tilt to bounce him off the bottom of the stage for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Mario started playing to his strengths, and thats why he was able to even things up.

*Brawler comes out swinging hard and looks like hes going to retake the lead, but he somehow completely misplays his up-B and self-destructs at a mere 12% (Mario 2-1)*

Crono: Wow, thatwas utterly dumbfounding. I dont think Ive seen a blunder that bad before that one.

*Brawler doesnt let his boneheaded mistake rattle him as he charges after Mario, knocking him off the side of the stage and following it up with an air-tilt for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Brawler does a good job not letting that keep him down, but Im sure hed love to have that stock right now.

*A Smash Ball appears as Brawler is getting back to the stage and Mario respawns. The two fight over it but Mario eventually claims it and hops back to burn Brawler with it, but his percentage is too low for it to end the match. However, Brawler cant seem to regain his momentum from earlier in the match, struggling to land many hits. Then Mario lands his side-smash to KO Brawler and win the match (Mario wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Mario wins! A Noble Niner finally wins a match when not fighting against another Noble Niner, but it was the one I think we can both say wed rather never see win.

Crono: Once again, we see an inexcusable mistake completely turn the tide of the match. Brawler had all the momentum until that point and still wound up dealing more damage than he received.

Lightweight Tournament

Match 1: Pikachu vs. Falco

Sephiroth: We saw Falco win his match in the Free for All Tournament last week. Can he carry that momentum into this match?

*Both fighters seem content to fight at a distance with their projectiles, but when Pikachu charges in and hits Falco with his side-smash, this apparently infuriates him. Falco then starts pounding him, and when a Smash Ball appears, he cracks it open and obliterates Pikachu with his Final Smash for the KO (Falco 3-2)*

Crono: Sometimes I wonder what it takes for Falco to take things seriously, and apparently, the answer is a hard hit to the face!

*Pikachu comes back with a fury of his own as he quickly piles on the damage while minimizing his own. He launches Falco with his side attack, but it isnt enough to finish him off. However, when Falco tries to use his up-B to recover, Pikachu boldly jumps out and crushes him with a meteor strike for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Not quite the most electrifying move in sports entertainment, but delivering death from above in such a vicious way comes pretty close.

*Both fighters duke it out for a long while, nearly getting up to 100% damage each without ever really hitting a major strike. Then a Smash Ball appears, and Falco seems dead set on getting it. However, Pikachu uses his projectile to break it open from afar, but he doesnt use it right away since Falcos damage is so high. He repeatedly tries to KO him with tilts and smashes but cant quite get the job done. Then he misuses his up-B and self-destructs without ever using his Final Smash (Falco, 2-1)*

Crono: Ouch, that could be a game-changing mistake by Pikachu.

*Pikachu keeps attacking Falco with all hes got and quickly KOs him with an up-smash at 180% (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Is that a save_us.rat chant I hear out there?

*Once again, both fighters just repeatedly trade blows in the middle of the stage without going for any major kill shots until theyre nearly at 100% apiece. Eventually, Pikachu knocks Falco off the side with a side attack and they take the fight off together. Then Pikachu successfully hits Falco with another meteor strike as they both fall beyond recovery to ensure he gets KOd first (Pikachu wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Pikachu wins! A hard-earned victory for him to erase his earlier mistake

Crono: This match was a real treat to watch, as both fighters used their finesse and agility to put on a mesmerizing performance. Pikachu was able to recover from his error and grab the win.

Match 2: Isabelle vs. Meta Knight

Sephiroth: This feels like an odd pairing here, but well see how things go!

*Meta Knight starts off strong with a few good hits but then becomes completely incapable of landing any attacks for a while as Isabelle gains a sizable advantage in percentage. Meta Knight finally settles down and starts connecting again, but then Isabelle blasts him for the KO (Isabelle 3-2)*

Crono: Wow, a stunning start for Isabelle, who isnt backing down from this fight at all.

*Meta Knight come back attacking recklessly and spamming all his specials but cant connect with any decisive blows. Then he eventually botches his up-B and self-destructs off the side of the stage (Isabelle 3-1)*

Sephiroth: Youll never get anywhere in a fight if you cant learn to keep your cool.

*A Smash Ball appears and Isabelle grabs it. Meta Knight tries to knock it free but to no avail. Luckily for him, Isabelle tries to use it off the side of the stage and misses. Meta Knight is finally able to register a KO with an up-smash a little bit afterwards (Isabelle 2-1)*

Crono: Its about time something goes right for Meta Knight, but it might be too much to ask for him to do much more than this.

*Unfortunately, Meta Knight is just at too great of a deficit and cant put together a consistent offensive attack. Isabelle gradually builds up his percentage and then finishes the job with a side-smash for the final KO (Isabelle wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Isabelle wins! I guess you cant judge a book by its cover.

Crono: You saw two completely different demeanors out there in that match. Isabelle was methodical and took what she was given, while Meta Knight kept swinging for the fences and missed wildly all over the place.

Match 3: Jigglypuff vs. Fox

Sephiroth: A battle between two of the original crew, but will the Final Destination style give Fox the advantage in this fight?

*Jigglypuff nails Fox with her down-B very early, and it seems to disorient him. Jigglypuff builds a sizable advantage in percentage and KOs him with her side-smash (Jiggypuff 3-2)*

Crono: Fox needs to wake up out there, quite literally!

*Fox calms down a bit and starts piling on the damage while protecting himself, and then Jigglypuff hits him with another down-B. Fox tries to punish her before she can wake up with a side-smash but hes just half a second too late. Despite her lightness, Fox just cant seem to land a crushing attack. A Smash Ball lands at the edge of the stage and Jigglypuff knocks it off a couple of times before Fox finally gets it. He knocks Jigglypuff up into the air hoping for the KO but she floats around above him to try to bait him into misusing his Final Smash. It doesnt work and he finally KOs Jigglypuff at 175% (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Jigglypuffs endurance in this fight is surprising for her size.

*Fox expended too much time and effort for that KO and so hes an easy target for Jigglypuff when she returns, as she pounds on him a bit and then sends him flying for an easy KO (Jigglypuff 2-1)*

Crono: I wouldnt have expected Fox to be the one who looks fatigued and a step behind in this match.

*Fox just cant seem to figure out Jigglypuff as he cant string together any kind of consistent offense, while she makes it look easy, moving around the stage with ease and building up damage. Then Jigglypuff hits Fox with one final down-B to put him out of his misery and end the match (Jigglypuff wins, 2-0)*

Sephiroth: Jigglypuff wins! That makes victories in two tournaments for her thus far.

Crono: Jigglypuff once again looks dominant and confident in victory. Does she have what it takes to win this tournament?

Match 4: Pichu vs. Zero Suit Samus

Sephiroth: Since the lightweight division has the smallest roster, weve already made it to round two here. Pichu drew a first round bye, so will the extra rest end up helping him?

*Both fighters zoom all over the stage, jumping and dodging attacks all over the place. Pichu seems to be taking the early advantage when a Smash Ball appears. After a struggle over it, Zero Suit Samus breaks it open and immediately uses it for the KO (ZSS 3-2)*

Crono: Zero Suit Samus doesnt waste any time when it comes to her Final Smash since she knows how devastating it can be.

*The battle becomes more of a ground game as both fighters exchange blows for a while. Pichu grabs ZSS and throws her off the side and then follows it up with his air attack for the KO (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Cant say Im a fan of being thrown off the side.

*Despite his percentage disadvantage, Pichu fearlessly charges right in and starts dealing lots of damage until ZSS has more damage than he does. Neither character can deal a decisive blow for a while, and theyre both over 125% apiece. Pichu throws ZSS off the side and tries to KO her the same way as before but misses. ZSS goes for the side-smash when theyre back on the stage and doesnt miss, KOing Pichu (ZSS 2-1)*

Crono: Good strategy on Pichus part to try to use what worked before, but Zero Suit Samus was ready for it this time.

*Despite being at nearly 150%, Pichu cant seem to get the knockout shot on ZSS. Eventually a Smash Ball appears, and it takes a while for it to break open. Pichu gets it and holds it, trying to KO ZSS first, but she knocks it back out of him. He grabs it again and doesnt opt to hold onto it this time but misses. Then he lands his up-smash to finally KO ZSS at over 190% damage (1-1)*

Sephiroth: Pichu got a little too desperate to get the KO there and misplayed his hand.

*Both sides fight evenly, but since ZSS has the percentage advantage, she can bide her time and play a bit more conservatively, especially as Pichu gradually damages himself with his own attacks. When the opening presents itself, she nails Pichu with her side-smash for the win (ZSS wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Zero Suit Samus wins! I guess the rest turned out to be more like rust for Pichu.

Crono: Pichu fought very well, but his inability to land that one decisive blow really cost him, as well as the fact that Zero Suit Samus connected on her Final Smash, but he didnt.

Match 5: Sheik vs. Kirby

Sephiroth: Zero Suit Samus was able to ride the momentum from her first round win to a second round win. Can Kirby do the same?

*Kirby gets off to a strong start with his air game. Despite her agility, Sheik has a hard time landing any attacks. Kirby sends Sheik flying with his dash attack and then slams her with the hammer as she tries to get back to the stage for a KO (Kirby 3-2)*

Crono: That was a masterful setup by Kirby for the knockout shot there.

*Sheik gathers herself and starts chaining together some attacks. She knocks Kirby off the side, and as he lackadaisically floats back toward the stage, she jumps off and hits him with her air-tilt to knock him beyond recovery (2-2)*

Sephiroth: Good move on Sheiks part to negate Kirbys massive jump range.

*The two duke it out for a while, rising in percentage, and then Sheik nearly KOs Kirby with her up-smash, but he hangs on and floats back down. Sheik chases after him and Kirby takes advantage of his floating to fight with her below the stage. It looks like hes knocked Sheik down too far, but she somehow manages to get back. A Smash Ball appears and Kirby gets it, prompting Sheik to stay in the air as much as possible to avoid letting him use it. Unfortunately, she drops right into his up-smash for a KO (Kirby 2-1)*

Crono: I get that Sheik didnt want to get caught by the Final Smash, but she left herself wide open for an easy KO as a result.

*When Sheik respawns, she again desperately tries to stay beyond Kirbys reach, but its only a matter of time before he catches her with his Final Smash for good damage. Once again, they wind up fighting below the stage, and a few times, it looks like one or the other wont be able to get back to the stage, but they both eventually get back. After some more back and forth, Sheik blasts Kirby with her up-air for the KO (1-1)*

Sephiroth: This match has been intense, and now were getting down to the final moments.

*However, Sheik was too worn down from the Final Smash and all the extra effort it took to get that KO, so all it takes is two up-airs for Kirby to end the match (Kirby wins, 1-0)*

Sephiroth: Kirby wins! Once again, the one who fought last week prevailed again this week.

Crono: Kirby fought unafraid out there. Sheik always seemed hesitant to actually mount an offensive assault, as she only registered 203% total damage given over the course of the match.
