Since college, close to a couple decades ago, I've been saying something will have to give before we, as a society, break utterly. Some people laughed; some told me to shut up and that I didn't know what I was talking about. Here we are now, with situations that could have been avoided had they been addressed so many years ago. Here I am, working full-time for a wage that could be better, serving less-than-healthy food to people that are largely dumb as bricks, with shoes that are breaking apart slowly while their replacement pair may or may not be delayed because of civil unrest, and a book on Amazon that has sold only 30-something paid copies in the past year so I have zero odds of retiring any time soon; and this is saying nothing of how I could afford to eat out again but can't go out right now for various other reasons. Meanwhile, a parasite of a "man" whom I've loathed and detested since the 90s is in charge of things, but he's also a non-leader so much as a mob boss whose ass-kissing followers are incapable of seeing reason; but at least we didn't elect the queen of self-entitlement whose alleged crimes were never truly proven.

No. I'm fine. Why would I be anywhere near going crazy at a time like this?

I'm OK. I live far away from even a small town. But, my husband works there and the business he works for has 3 cases of Covid in the employees and my father in law owns a trailer park that has 4.

On the upside the stray cat that has been hanging around had finally let me pet her after many months. I also found her 2 kittens in an old tree house but I am not going to disturb them because I don't want her to move them. Hopefully I can get her calm enough I can get her in a crate to have her fixed. Same with the kittens before they reach adulthood.

I swear off pets then a stray shows up. Never fails.

New York has been quite chaotic, though I don't live too close to the city where most of the madness has been happening. There have been peaceful protests close to my area and I myself am doing ok (straight to work, straight home)

Im doing okay. Ive been exercising a lot more due to being stuck inside more often. The protests in my city have been peaceful so far. The biggest issue I have is trying to get my car battery replaced but thankfully Im getting that solved today.

Generally fine, but I have to admit, there have been brief moments of dread at the state of unrest around the world. The silver lining being that these moments offer an opportunity for introspection and mindfulness.

This is what my wife and I have been doing. Its been nice to discuss the issues at hand and we can grow closer to understanding each other and thankfully agree on whats wrong with everything happening.

The existential dread is not great though.

I've got too much going on. I'm building a house, going to school, helping a sick kitten recover, supporting my preggo wife, and taking care of my son

I've pretty much made my peace with the virus. I'm still doing my best to avoid it because the very last thing I want is to pass it to my mom, but I'm not actually stressing about it anymore. I just wish other people took it seriously enough to do the bare minimum of precautions.

As for current events, I'm fired up and have no intention of sitting on the sideline. I see it as more than a race issue, and one that affects every American citizen.

I was thinking of how the issue relates with me personally. I have my share of regrets of not standing up to mistreatment when I was younger; whether the victim was me or someone else. I made a vow at one point to never back down from a worthy cause ever again, and I intend to keep it, no matter who the opposition is. With my history, my ideals, and my heritage, there's no way I could possibly ignore this.
