lasting damage to the body?
Some research indicates that damage ranging from long-lasting pneumonia in the lungs, to bacterial infections, to kidney damage that requires dialysis, to low blood-oxygen levels, to abnormal blood clotting, and more, are present in survivors of COVID-19. As time goes on, we are of course going to see more cases, which means more people who survive it. I feel like so many people look at recovery in a binary perspective, where you either die in a very small and worst case scenario, or survive it and are 100% fine, when that really isn't the case. It seems more like a spectrum of prognoses, where death is only one point at one end, and there is a whole host of very unsavory symptoms and effects this virus has for many other points on the spectrum (look at Nick Cordero for a sad case that is probably dangerously close to the 'death point' on the spectrum). Does anyone have any longlasting effects of COVID-19 or know someone who has them? I'm trying to convince family and friends to stay in and not take a slowdown in news coverage or cases in our area as a sign that we are in a celebratory victory lap. I of course look for articles too, such as one that I found of a young and healthy NYT writer who apparently still has trouble not getting out of breath just from walking around, 1 month after a release from a hospital. --- Yes my name is reallyJustin and yes my last name is really Meme I don't care what the haters say Memes are part of my DNA and you can't take that away frome me! ... I cant really say if I had it or not as I didn't get tested. But I had "flu like symptoms" back in March that ended with a severe ear ache, high temperature, and trouble breathing for almost 2 months where I had to use an inhaler twice a day.

Tested positive in April. I can't do intense cardio like I did pre-covid. I can't take as deep a breath as I used to when physically exerting myself. Which causes lightheadedness and exhaustion much quicker.

Friends dad and brother both had it. Neither report anything out of the ordinary. The dad was high risk, having a pace maker and suffering a major heart attack a few months back.

Cant confirm I had it but I was sick in late January for a solid week with all the usual symptoms, it was a brutal illness for sure that felt like it would kill the elderly. After this illness for a solid 1-1.5 months it felt like my lung capacity was lower, that steadily got better, I also lost a good deal of strength that week of being sick and had serious lingering fatigue.
I cant confirm it was Covid but my breathing feeling so strange for a month makes me wonder. ... Copied to Clipboard!
