I've got several side projects I want to work on. I'm making a card game, I want to work on B8 ranking stuff, I've got RP stuff going. On top of that I still want to draw and watch movies.

But ultimately when I do have free time I all too often end up just sitting around doing nothing unable to convince myself to actually do stuff before inevitably just throwing on YouTube or Community reruns or playing Overwatch (and getting pissed off when I inevitably go on losing streaks)

Motivation is a bit of lie. It's better to give yourself a habit of "I'm going to work on this Tuesdays and Thursdays no matter what" rather than just waiting until you feel like it.

Feel like that's the way I've been for years most of the time.

I've begun to learn that I can control my body like a robot instead of waiting to feel like I want to do something. It kinda sucks because you don't want to live that way, you want to just do the things you normally do like you normally did. But it also starts to feel the same.

one thing that has been working for me most of the time is that my wife and I both know that usually I'll be okay once I can actually get started on something, so sometimes she'll just pick a thing and pester me to do it. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't work but makes me think "man I don't wanna do X I wanna do Y" and then from there I can usually talk myself into Y. Sometimes it doesn't work at all but it seems to be the strategy with the highest success rate so far.
