Welcome one, welcome all!

Twenty souls have been gathered to be toyed with by the RNGod. Only one will make it out alive! Who will it be? Who knows! I sure as heck don't!

I've finished the Prologue chapter. As this might be the only chapter some of these characters get, I try to take time to write at least a bit on each of them. Don't worry, it's an introductory chapter without nobody dying yet. I was surprised by how much I'm enjoying writing this actually! If I knew that I'd have started this sooner.

But before the Prologue, I'll repost the sign-up list and the arena.

The Setting
Eightopia World - A newly renovated indoor theme park divided into several areas:
Grand Boulevard - The main street decorated with exaggerated Americana architecture, evoking the nostalgic and classy feel of the 40-50s era. Also leads to the park's main entrance.
Magic Town - Full of mystery and whimsy, it's basically a knock-off of Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley from Harry Potter, with dim purple lighting and a slightly eerie atmosphere.
Adventure Island - Swashbuckling pirates, untamed jungles, and hidden civilizations come together in this action-packed area.
Planet Faraday - A planet in a distant galaxy, it is an interplanetary hub populated with mesmerizing alien species and the latest sci-fi technology.

Nice, I really like the sense of place and the little world building elements here! And my characters were like just as I imagined them in my head, I got a good laugh out of "Stagehand" too! I love that I got a little bit of a horror slant to Katy's start too.

Higgens is as goofy as I'd hoped and I love the immediate horror vibe of Harlon in the house of mirrors

Oh dang, this is going to be a lot of fun. It's kind of sad how Bridget is clearly much more successful than I, ha ha. But seriously, thanks for the fun intro. :D Already a lot of detached analyzing going on.

Some of the highlights: Coach and Madeline actually playing the zap the aliens game; sort of enjoying it rather than just being stuck on a ride. I feel like Coach Colt was the driving influence here, so it will be fun to see what sort of nonsense he'll engage in. Claire and Johhny.. if this was a tv show I'd be thinking they were set up to be an odd couple already, Heh.

I also like Peter and Osman's instant bromance. I'm just a little worried about that probably killer robot they ran into..although the ending actually makes me a bit less worried since I suspect their host would find just offing them before the games began rather unceremonious.

The two biggest standout groups are obviously the old guy and the blogger and the nutter who denies gravity and the ghost whisperer. If Bridget is eccentric these guys are NUTS. Ha ha, poor Sasha... although her bandages are definitely a story I'm curious about. And man, I'd love to see the old guy Mr. Magoo his way through the whole story. I hope the villain isn't QUITE as bloodthirsty as some forum games, wiping out characters left and right, but is more like the host of a death serial tv show; Doles out the deaths littlle by little and even lulls us into a false sense of security by letting everyone make it through a game alive at least half the time. Although I suppose you aren't planning to make this your life's work or anything, so probably not that.

Oh, and Harlon the "Bringham Bay Butcher"? I have to admit it, if one of the party is literally a serial killer he's going to have to survive a while. His presence will make everything that much more stressful. Hell, I'm a fan of a good twist so I wouldn't mind if he or someone else was actually involved in this scheme and only pretended to be kidnapped along with the rest...

It's been a while since I've got to read one of these kind of games, and I'm hyped.

I'm quite happy with the cast we have, so thanks for nominating a colorful bunch of folks.

I haven't rolled the deaths yet so I don't know what will happen either. It might come back to bite me in the ass but that's the essence of a random elimination story so yeah we'll see.

And I admit I'm quite fond of how some characters and groups are turning out so far. Too bad one of them is gonna be offed next chapter.

You could always make the random result have more safe spots.. like rolling a one on a d6 is less likely then a 1-3. Its your game though I just think it would be fun to see it go longer, lol.

Well, as much as I love these characters, someone's got to be the first elimination. I've finally rolled the dice (so to speak, I used random.org) and somebody's number came up. A mild hint: it's a character by someone who have two characters in the story.

The thing I found hardest was keeping track of the characters and at least giving them something to do. But hey, it'll get easier as it goes!

I thought the Prologue was especially long since I had to introduce everyone and stuff, but this chapter actually exceeded the last one in word count. Welp!

Really great chapter it absolutely kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I love the lead in to Peter's death and how it was setup in his and Osman's story with the reveal showing up in the middle of the other group. Also boo Joey died, but hey at least he went out a hero and I'm really liking Bridget and Anna's story, so hopefully they make it far. Also glad Phoebe made it farther than Joey, you've been writing her exactly as I pictured and she's definitely my favorite of the two. So it was a great chapter and I'm really looking forward to the next one!

Poor Joey. I guess he had a death flag after all. Seeing him go trying to do good though, in a battle royale series sometimes a noble death is the best you get.

Despite the fact hes the worst Im glad the butcher is still around tho; hes basically one of the villains at this point and going out without taking a few of us out would be anticlimactic as all heck.

Okay, show of hands, who wants to see Higgens Mr. Magoo his way through this whole thing and be the survivor? Hilarious. Love this guy.

Although the real way to beat these is games is to turn the tables on the killer somehow; theres no guarantee other than their unreliable word there will be a winner who gets to live. I hope lucky dice rolls partway in could allow for more survivors and a chance to take down the bad guy, cuz that could add a fun twist.

That was another excellent chapter! I promise I read it when you corrected the Google doc link; I just didn't feel like writing up a comment until now.

I'm obviously happy Winona lived, though hopefully her group will have some longer scenes and perhaps encounter other characters soon. Also, I'm really glad Harlon exists to add extra tension from within; he's definitely one of the characters I'm hoping continues to survive, at least for now.

Yeah, it's a shame that not everyone's groups can get equal coverage each chapter, but it's definitely something I keep in mind. Look forward to them having more to do next time.

And once we get into Top 5 or so I'm sure everyone can get a decent amount of screen time.

Things kicked off quickly. I like the presence of the Butcher. A ridiculous Dead by Dalight killer is perfect for this story lol.

I'm also glad Johnny wasn't first out, although he really doesn't feel long for this world. Claire seems much more likely to outlive him in that starting pair.
