i guarantee 90% of these people making "thank you, rip" or whatever threads didn't give a shit about them before hand, but are just sick assholes exploiting a person's death for imaginary internet points.

I don't think as many people are karma farming as much as most educated people think.

You'd be surprised at how many people just don't use the search function, or don't even read the big threads. They just hop on and say something immediately after hearing about it.

Alternatively, they may be pointing out a unique thing about someone that passed away and feel that it's important people not forget. Like a general RIP Jane Joe thread won't draw attention to how Jane Doe saved thousands of lives in a selfless act and she did nothing to draw attention to it because she's humble.

Ive been noticing for a while on Reddit that literally every time theres a tragedy that involves death and survivors. Someone in the comments will rush to comment something about survivors guilt

its so simple but it goes to show you how the people of reddit love to assume this armchair bullshit. Take something they dont understand but have learned of its existence from Reddit and spread it around every chance they get. They see these kinds karma farm comments and just try and get their turn at the harvest.

Is it a big deal? Idk, you can have your own opinions. But to me Id rather not have every idiot on the internet rushing to make mental health conclusions for survivors of a horrible tragedy.

I wonder if TC gets mad at music stores (RIP music stores) that put out the albums of a recently departed artist for easy pick up.
