Ive run through it many dozens of times just messing with different character setups and challenge runs. And Im likely to continue doing so for the foreseeable future.

I really wish there were a true randomizer option to play, where every single aspect of the game was randomized and you were just forced to adapt

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is for the Switch. Xenoblade Chronicles X is for the Wii U.

I've played 1 and X but haven't beaten either. I got sidetracked by other games at the time

Xenoblade 2 is pretty great. My only real issue with it is that post game content outside of the DLC challenge arena feels so weak. Like, I was able to just walk up and body the super bosses with no prep. Challenge arena kinda fixes it but it's not really incorporated into the world at all. The last 3rd or so of the story is also garbage IMO which is unfortunate cause I love the first 2/3rds. Wish there was a way to have access to overdrive way earlier than basically after post game.

I do love that it's the first xenoblade that has multiple lively towns so the world feels lived in. It's awesome that each unique blade has it's own missions (and theres like 50 unique blades). It'd be like if every single pokemon had it's own quest in a pokemon game that fleshed it out and was fun.

Also I love Nia's voice for reasons even I don't understand. A scottish tsundere just works for me I guess.

Yeah the difficulty sliders and array of options make the game very replayable. It's a shame you have to either make multiple accounts or delete your save to start fresh though.

Have subsequent patches made affinity grinding suck any less? Mashing A for hours to buy and give affinity items was pretty boring, though it was easy to do while doing other things.

The DLC comes with a bunch of free Love Sources, which basically max out Trust in 4-5 uses.

And you can easily grind out the items for free and craft it yourself very quickly and easily.

Honestly, you're not missing much by not finishing X. The ending of the story leaves a lot to be desired (like at least one sequel, if not 2-3. They answer basically nothing and raise several new questions), though I suppose it might unlock some additional sidequests (I really don't remember). Most of X's appeal is in the worldbuilding and exploration, which it does an excellent job of.

That's good. I went through the game and maxed out all of the blades before most of the DLC was out (I think I might even have finished with it before they added NG+), so I've missed out on a few QoL improvements since then.

Yeah. I think I heard that. I was never big into the story in that one, anyway. I loved the fighting. And thought the multiplayer was kind of cool. And the whole co-op thing where everyone worked together to get those prizes of whatever by doing those missions...

The DLC Blades all break the game. Nia with Crossette can solo the game with minimal backup. Rex with Fiora will basically become a crit-heal tank.

But the game was broken anyway. I remember Kos-Mos before the DLC already having a special that healed for more HP than it was possible to have. Multiple times in a row.

Poppis final form is so good that shes only hindered by the fact that theres a damage cap.

The story was weird cause it was really 2 stories. An interesting and relatively well presented sci-fi story on what it means to be human or even alive at all, and a really shitty low tier anime story of some poorly written aliens being evil and stupid for the lulz. Really felt to me like they wrote a good story and a complete trash story and just said fuck it, use em both.

To be fair, the chance of getting KOS-MOS is ultra low. I think she's the only blade I didn't have after getting elma and I rolled a whole lot trying to get her. You can't reasonably get fiora, shulk, or elma till you've beaten everything else in the game. QTPi is godlike but only after you invest a whole lot of time into unlocking her and getting good mods.

Crossette and Corvin are pretty busted though. I mostly used Corvin and had no trouble with anything but at least he was OP in a skill intensive way cause you needed to properly i-frame attacks in order to really be powerful. Crossette also takes at least a bit of work and strategy to really crush everything with.

All Crossette needs is maybe Rex with Pyra to spam Anchor Shot. You can max out her already massive damage with Nia in a minute.

She hits so hard, Nias ends up becoming your tank because she can heal it all off too.

AoE skills are busted, so if you equip a character with a a blade that has one, give another character Dagas (who also takes some work to make good). His passive extends the range and power of AoE skills, so any battle with multiple targets is going to be much easier. Its always good to have in rotation.

Kaiser Zone is also something thats only useful for like 5% of the game because of how long it takes to max out Dagas. Most broken shit in the game isn't actually usable for much outside of challenge arena and NG+. Crossette can definitely deal massive damage but a lot of fights end before you can really take advantage of the 500% and 200-300% launch damage bonus. She is still broken of course. Then corvin is untouchable. Basically the return of decoy builds from X but needing to actually i-frame. I think if you just ban corvin and crossette and don't happen to get super lucky and roll KOS-MOS, the game is balanced just fine.

Im on my second playthrough in NG+ and it is nice you can skip the cutscenes. Also its nice that you can continue to unlock blades.

i think im at 145+ hours.
