My girlfriend and I have started playing video games together, and its been pretty fun.

We saw that Pokemon Lets Go had multiplayer, so we picked that up, but the multiplayer was severely lacking, tbh. We still had a lot of fun taking turns and watching each other, but it wasnt what we expected.

we bought a puzzle game called Conduct Together and had a lot of fun with this, too. It was short and frustrating at times, but it was way more enjoyable than a one-cent game had a right to be. 7/10.

next we bought Mario Odyssey and LOVED it. Wed take turns finding moons as Mario and the other person would be the hat. She liked doing purple coin hunting and I liked doing the time challenges. I thought it was great. This was the first game Ive ever done to 100%. We got all the moons, and bought the rest up to the max, and still traveled around grinding coins until we could buy every outfit.

were thinking our next game will be Luigis Mansion 3, Yoshis Crafted World, or Mario+Rabbids (on sale for $15 on the nintendo store rn). Anyone have thoughts on these? What about other, non-Mario games?

were looking for something cooperative, not person vs person. Also, story-driven would be better than party games (smash, Mario kart, etc.), even if the story is not very good or full of depth; wed like there to be an end-goal.

one last thing: We only have one Switch so were locked into local multiplayer on that end, but were thinking about buying Minecraft on PC so we could play when were not in the same room. Is this a good 2-player game? Any other PC games that we might enjoy? we both have Microsoft Surface Pro 7s, so probably nothing super intense.

I definitely recommend Luigi's Mansion 3. You have to play solo for about an hour or so before multiplayer opens up but it's a blast when it does. Trying to find all the gems without a guide is pretty challenging.

Not on switch but theres several tales of games on PC. Almost all of those are good story based games with co-op. Some of the entries handle co-op better than others so probably best to look it up before trying. Symphonia, vesperia, and berseria are all pretty well received.

On switch smash and mario kart are pretty great. You might have fun switching off playing xenoblade 2 but I'm pretty sure it's single player.

Nice! Might buy this one later today then, unless someone can turn me onto Mario+Rabbids, which seems fun and has the bonus of being on sale lmao

This looks interesting, but from the description sounds like players are trying to get other players. Im looking for something more cooperative.

Interesting! Neither of us have played JRPGs before (well, Im currently playing FFVII but Im not done yet), but thats not necessarily a turnoff (to me, at least). I see that the collection comes with three games, but multiplayer is only available for two. Do you need to play the single-player game to understand/unlock the other games? Its fine if we do, just want to know what were getting into.

If your into that sort of thing. And The Binding of Isaac, as well... And Splatoon 2... Just to name a few...

Oh right, hyrule warriors is a nintendo game. You guys might enjoy that. Mindless co-op hack and slash fun. Some people like it, some people hate it, so maybe take a look at some gameplay.

EDIT: On PC assuming you each have a PC, I highly recommend monster hunter world. It's easily one of the best co-op games and you can play it together for 100s if not 1000s of hours. It might take a little effort to get her into it at first cause the game starts slow and the controls are really precise which can make it very easy to miss what you are swinging at.

Ill have to ask my gf how she feels about RPGs, but thanks for the recommendation!

party games arent what Im looking for, unfortunately.

aside: does anyone know if the LEGO movie games are good, and if you can coop online?
