Yeah, I think most do, because we barely had time to defend the NN this time because Zelda broke it... several times and Tifa even did as well. So after a few days it didn't matter at all.

These days, Zelda > Pikachu > Tifa = Mega Man X > the rest. Come on now, nobody should bring up Tifa without also bringing up MMX!

In the early days, Vincent was the strongest non-NNer. The only other contender would maybe be MMX, but MMX was never in any contests until 2008!

On average throughout all contests, probably either Zelda or Squall has been the strongest who's actually been in most character contests. MMX may very well have been the strongest on average if he was actually in the early contests.

Bowser was the first thought, but that's been years of wishful thinking. Was pushing for Bowser > Crono so hard last contest.

Zelda at the moment, though I think Pikachu's ceiling is higher and Pokemon would be more likely to get a release mid-contest season that bolsters it.

There's probably no one time at which Pikachu was the correct answer, though I would definitely say that no non-Noble Niner has been better over the course of the last five. Two top sixteens, a Top 32 that was still good for #6 in the X-Stats (he ran into Snake early), an actual 6th place, and a Top 12.

There is a solid argument that (obviously stripping away the 2013 shenanigans) it was Pikachu in 2013. That Pikachu/Crono/Magus result was nuts.

I would guess it was Squall in some years, but he never really got a chance to prove it. He's the one who's been most consistently up near the top though because the others have risen and fallen with time.

And I would definitely take Tifa over Sonic now that Remake is out, and I'd entertain Crono and Mega Man.
