Idk, I have strongly mixed feelings about this. If someone's on the borderline between a D and C, sure, if there's ever been a time to bump them up, do it now. But people who haven't done any work don't deserve to pass the class.

The point of taking a class is to learn the material. Passing students who did not learn the material, for literally any reason, is contrary to the point of education. Edit: that's not to say there should be literally no flexibility. I agree that down in the border of pass fail, more flexibility should be granted.
