I have a feeling she got booted by the network because I can't think of another reason she would leave the show. Quitting the titular role of your TV show after the first season seems like a Hollywood death sentence so maybe she's done with acting completely.

I read she got seriously injured (nearly paralyzed) doing a stunt and thinks her pain is to debilitating for her to continue in the role.
