Yeah, that's an option. I just didn't necessarily want Final Smashes to be too frequent.

How long should the prediction period be each week before matches start?

for the record I'm using the Protoman template for the Mii Gunner, Knuckles, for the Mii Brawler, and Yu Narukami for the Mii Swordsman

Okay, after experimenting with it a bit, the Smash gauge fills up noticeably more often than a Smash Ball appears on low.

Although I actually kind of like it with both active when I'm doing a timed tag team match since you don't have a stock limit because there were Final Smashes activating all over the place. I'd like tag matches to be a bit more hectic than 1-on-1 but not quite as chaotic as a free for all, so that might be a good balance. I'm just not sure which one I should turn off for 1-on-1.

Now I'm wondering if I should do time in free for alls for maximum chaos.

After messing with it some more, nah, I'll just do time on tag teams. Trying to summarize free for all on time would probably be difficult. It's going to be tough enough following along with it as it is!

I think Battlefield stages instead of FD stages works better for tag team matches because it gives them more room to spread out so they're not just on top of each other all the time, especially on the smaller stages.

There have been some pretty exciting finishes in these exhibition matches! Too bad none of these count.

Your idea for putting costumes on the Mii Fighters made me consider having more of them and list them as Knuckles (Mii Brawler) for instance . Many great characters are costumes. It shouldn't be them all, but seeing as there are a bunch of echo fighters, having a second one wouldn't be much different from that. It's a shame they're not lightweights, however.

Perhaps it's better to just them as is.

Also, I like two days for predictions.

Yeah, it'd be nice if they were split evenly across the weight classes because I could use it to balance out the divisions better, but oh well.

Hmmm...I wonder if we could do Stamina matches and use Terry's stage to ensure there are no ringouts, only KOs. I don't know if I should make it a separate division, although that would only add to the workload! That might be a bit too ambitious.

Could just be a specialized PPV once in a while or something.

Also, I could create multiple Mii fighters and make them their own tag team instead of rolling all three types into one team. That might be the way to use them best.

I'm trying to decide how to figure out which stages to use and in what order. Maybe I should just randomize the list and go with that. Then there's the issue of whether certain stages should be "banned" or not.

Yeah I would ban all moving stages except in free for all and maybe even then.

I feel like in BFL they tended to just mean a lot of suicides

Well, the plus with Ultimate is that you have Omega versions of stages and you can turn off stage hazards, so technically any stage is viable in 1-on-1.

And free for alls are meant to be crazy anyway, but I'm fine with banning stuff that has a high self-destruct rate.

Yeah, that's a good idea. I need to figure out how to work Squad Strike and Smashdown into special events every now and then.

Also, I think I've figured out if I do 2 matches from each division every week, we can rotate through the entire roster every 3 weeks, which would then set up the last week of the month for the big PPV event featuring the "best" fighters from the month, as well as factoring in their overall record. That would mean 10 matches per week for the weekly events, and we can probably double that for the PPVs, which would feature 56 of the 80 characters.

And I guess we're good with 4-ways instead of 8-ways for the Free for All division?

Hnmm...I'd like to have some sort of chart that shows each character's win-loss record against each individual character, although that might be more of a pain than it's worth with a roster this size.

I'll probably make a Google Sheet so everyone can peruse the results and stuff.

And I would agree with 4 ways as the standard free for all. Save 8 ways for special occasions

I'm trying to think of the potential things you can spend your points on (as well as how much they should cost) and how to use your points to multiply your earnings on matches.

We can allow people to spend points on a match of their choice (whatever rule set they would like to use) as well as choosing the venue for a weekly show or a PPV. I'm trying to think of what else we can use points for.

Hmm...Let's see, as far as the Mii tag teams are concerned, we can do:

Gunner: Protoman/Zero
Swordfighter: P3/P4 Protagonist
Brawler: Knuckles/Skull Kid?

Brawler doesn't have nearly as many cool custom costumes.

well I guess I can use different Miis for singles and teams since I don't want to give up on Protoman

actually looking at it Zero is a swordfighter, not a gunner, so I could have him in the singles and P3/P4 protag as the tag team

I just don't know who to use as a tag partner for Skull Kid as a Brawler then. Maybe make a Toad character or Akira from Virtua Fighter or something

Pick a weapon to be in the fight. Pick a stage. Pick a participant or both for a match (for after tourneys). Pick a rule (stock stamina metal etc). Pick everything for a match. Create a team. Would be good things to spend on.

Match can cost more for title match. Changing something for the whole event can cost more than for one match. Real cheap could be to pick a costume or change a characters costume. Pay to create a Mii maybe?

Hmm...I like those ideas. We can allow people to pick those things for one match or for an entire weekly event, too.

I just need an idea of point values for each thing. I guess I can base it on the max amount of points available per week. I could probably add a bonus in the event that someone successfully predicts every match in an event, as unlikely as that would be.

Right, but the condition for being the first to escape doesn't really apply in those situations.

One time I did a "Tables" match for B8WL by having the winner be the first person to knock somebody through the sign on Ryu's stage

Not a whole lot of gimmick matches can really be replicated but you could come up with kinda Smash-y ones instead I bet. First to actually use a score flag thingy? First to hit a final smash? First to assemble one of the multi-part weapons? First one to get Mew out of a Pokeball? Whoever can complete the most laps on Rainbow Cruise in a single life? Which AI can do the best against you? Buncha low-levels/handicapped against a high-level? First to get gold on the level with all the coins? Last to screw up on WarioWare or the one where you hide from mom?

Yeah, I guess there are some gimmick matches we can do based on certain items or stages. The multi-part weapon thing seems like it could work really well if you make them the only items and set them to high.

Speaking of stages, I put all the Smash stages into a randomizer and I'm just going to do them in that order each week.

The multipart item match seems like a cool idea.

Almost like a pole match. Get the item then use it to take out the opponent.
