Hmm...It probably comes close. Squall, Vivi, and Auron probably aren't enough to balance out FFIV, FFVI, FFXII, FFXIII, and FFXV sucking, although they haven't had a ton of entrants.

I'd be curious to see what percentage of FF's total matches are just FFVII.

It's the only franchise to lose to a hand twice.

yeah, Tidus, Yuna, and Rikku have a lot of round 1 losses

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Rikku were the second strongest FFX character but she always gets in with a low seed and draws guys like Ryu and Kirby

I thought of this but also the game doesn't have named playable characters so it wasn't really what I was trying to think of, AC is in the same boat

this question just occurred to me because I think it's extremely weird that Final Fantasy 5 has had two characters but neither of them are any of the game's main playable characters OR the game's main villain

I miscounted, it's actually .500

Auron - 17-10
Yuna - 7-7
Tidus - 5-10
Rikku - 3-5
Jecht - 2-1
Sin - 0-1

Total - 34-34

Claptrap is a playable character in the Pre-Sequel. Im not sure about the timing of the these characters were in the contest vs. when the Pre Sequel came out, so Borderlands 2 may have counted at the time

technically the Claptrap in PS may be different from the Claptrap in 2, so I guess Borderlands 2 may count regardless

heh, ff10 has had more character battle appearances than kingdom hearts, resident evil, street fighter, kirby or castlevania. it's only 2 behind the chrono series (and 1 behind chrono trigger!)

Well, FFX is good for three characters almost every contest, sometimes four. Pretty sure they had five in 2010! I think 2004 was the last time Yuna missed a contest. Tidus never has, and Auron hasn't missed one since his debut in 2003.

Probably something like 50 of Smash's playable characters have made a contest so this is not what I asked :p

If all those Borderlands characters lost in round 1, Borderlands is at 4. Does anything beat that?

Yeah, all of those characters lost in round 1, so that's a good guess!

Xenoblade is 0-4 if you count it separate from the other Xeno games.

Oh wait, I was counting total record since Shulk has lost twice.

We're going by total unique characters. I can't imagine anyone else has that many. I scrolled through the 2013 X-Stats and couldn't find anything.

Not that many franchises even manage to get 4 characters in the contests at all, so it's pretty hilarious that Borderlands of all things managed it with 4 characters as fodderific as those four

When I did the tier rankings for Zen's Tiermaker thing, Crash legitimately ended up in the Trash tier just because of that awful result. There's is only a few contest results that actively get me salty, and it's up there with Melee vs. Chrono Trigger.
