Where are you guys benching and stuff! Gyms open where you are?

A lot of ppl on these topics have equipment at home, and some people are just improvising. I have a half-rack and an adjustable bench. I only have like 300 lbs of plates but I'm small and weak so that should last through quarantine I hope

Finished off this week losing about 1.5 lbs. Much more reasonable than the 11lbs water weight purge from the previous week. I'm easing up on things a bit now. I'm expecting to put a bit of water weight back on this week. Hopefully, I'll do that and lose a touch of fat weight. I'm expecting it to balance out.

I wish my abs popped a bit more at this point, but I'm overall happy with my look. I'll probably continue trying to simply maintain it and improve at a very slow rate.

Wow, theres no space for that here in these small ass NY rooms lol. Thats awesome man, Id love to have a power rack and a bench. Thats really all you need lol

You can also find some really effective bodyweight exercises that you can do in your house without any equipment. Worst case, you can improvise some stuff with water jugs and backpacks.

I tried a floor press with my dumbbells but wasnt sure whether it was worth it because Im used to the full ROM on a bench with dumbbells. My arms can only go as far back as the ground during the pulling motion. Felt like I was cheating myself. Anyone know more about ground benching and whether its worth it? Ive been doing pyramid pushups as a substitute

the ROM is definitely shorter but if you keep your elbows from touching as you go down it does a decent job of engaging the chest. Focus on squeezing at the top. Definitely wont replace throwing up big weights with a bench setup. You can also arch your back and push up for a decent modified decline press

would say hit some wide pushups as well.

Man I'm telling ya. I don't make big bank but this 2br/2.5ba at less than $600 really helps.

IMO look into some bands if you're looking for more exercise variety. Very lightweight/little space and you can replace a lot of cable based lifts with them

I just got the regular one you put in your door but some people dont like them because they arent that stable. I dont do pull-ups a lot so it works for me.

Youre so lucky. Do you have progressive weights or just a static set

I'm not sure what you're asking tbh, sorry for being an idiot. I have kind of a random collection of weights.

44 lbs. - 1 pair
14.3 lbs. - 2 pairs
13.2 lbs. - 2 pairs
10 lbs. - 1 pair
8.8 lbs. - 4 pairs
5 lbs. - 2 pairs
4.4 lbs. - 1 pair
3 lbs. - 2 pairs
2.5 lbs. - 1 pair

Keeping my eye out for more, but it's been okay for my purposes so far since I'm a weakling and I'm only benching like 145, deadlifting 170, and curling 30-35 per arm. And no squat rack, so not doing anything there.

You arent cheating yourself, benching from the floor just takes your shoulders out of the equation. As far as form, try to squeeze your headphone cable in between your pecs. Doesnt really work, but do it right and your arms raise up naturally.

I'm sort of trying to hold at around 161-162 through this next week. It's the heavy week of the 5/3/1 cycle. Then I'm gonna see how I feel and adjust my weight loss goals accordingly. Been losing 1.5-2 pounds a week, might try to get that down to 1.

That's not that crazy. There are routines to get someone from not running to a half marathon in like 3 months. It's about daily consistency and a blend of HIIT vs endurance training.

I can believe getting someone to running a half marathon fine, I mean, if you run slow enough, you'll do it.

It's the speed increase and increased mileage over the year that's just kinda out there.

Yup; insane. I was on the cross country team in high school and NONE of us had that sort of improvement within a year, including running 5x a week during the summer.

Either he's gifted AF, has previous training that vastly carried over (was a swimmer for 5 years but then a couch potato for 10, e.g.), or he's lying about his starting point. Grats to him, I guess.

Yeah, that 5k progression is pretty unusual. If you take someone who's untrained mile is below 6 minutes, it is understandable that some decent training would get them to the point where they can run at that same pace for 3 miles.

Starting at 11 minutes for 1 mile is not a good indicator of talent, unless the guy was super heavy to start off with.

Like, I've previously run under 17 minutes, and I can't see myself being able to do that again until probably another year from now.

Losing 60 pounds certainly helps and can explain the slow start time, but the list of guys who have run a 16 minute 5k at 196lbs is not a very long list. This guy's a monster.

Yeah, the motivation's good as long as people aren't thinking they can follow a similar running program to this guy and see the same results. This level of progression indicates he is a world-class talent.

Reminds me that quite a few English Premier League players posted fake 5k times around when quarantine started. One of the most egregious being Ross Barkley running a 16 minute 5k... but over the course of an hour.
