If you feel like you're going to cave, get a small glass and pour yourself like a third of a beer and then immediately dump the rest out. Better to have a few sips to crush your craving than fight it until you end up drinking a whole bottle.

You could even do something like ice the glass for a little bit so your sips are extra frosty and it feels like a reward.

Its impossible to diet without the wife also dieting. She starts Optavia later this week so that should make my diet strict. Personally I think its a pyramid scheme but she was adament and it had worked for her in the past, so I said sure.

Also I really want to buy a dips station, I miss doing dips. Maybe later when I start bulking. Any kind of makeshift dip station at home just isn't the same.

Also since I started, I haven't been able to focus on anything else in my free time other than reading up about lifting. Back in 2013 when I used to lift, I would spend every free minute of my time watching youtube videos - Elliot Hulse, Omar Isuf, Chris Jones were my favorites. I probably learned the most practical tips from Chris Jones although his videos are crap now. Now I'm in that phase where I'm constantly on reddit fitness, naturalbodybuilding, and powerlifting. I need to stop. I think I have a good routine and schedule, I just gottta put my head down and see my results in 2-3 months.

Lacking a better place to do dips is definitely the biggest downside to having a half-rack. I've never been able to do chair dips etc because it hurts my wrists

I'm off today and I'm really glad. Gonna rest up and hopefully get my mindset right

Bought me a 35-lb kettlebell from Amazon today. It will probably take a while to come in; they're out of stock everywhere.

Alt Right champion Joe Rogan says a kettlebell and a pull-up bar are all you need for a full workout. So I'm gonna order a pull-up bar that I can screw into my wall soon, too.

this is me. I binge eat so I decided Ill just eat one giant meal a day

my abs almost showing but the dad fat is tough to cut through.

weirdest part of all is that Ive really only lost a net of 3 lbs which means Im not starving my muscle away like I thought I would. Its not for everyone but if you can eat once a night and thats it, try it out. You get to feel super full afterwards...it just sucks until you eat again though

Need to know where to go. Getbig was very lively back in the late 2000s up until about 2015.

Personally, Im doing alright. Gyms have been closed for a good 6 weeks where Im at. Can only do so much at home. Not regressing but not making progress very quickly either Kinda got a case of the fuck its and just been eating around maintence with the gym being closed.

Yes struggling to lose weight as in lbs

But I've basically shed all of my fat. Like my wife says it is a huge difference. Which means if I'm staying the same weight then that has to mean I'm replacing fat with muscle. Working great for me :)

I have done every nutrition plan known to man so luckily for me I'm pretty in tune with how my body reacts. So far, one meal a day is treating it well.

Well, back in those days I used /fit/, t-nation, and bodybuilding.com plus the martial arts board here. Today I feel like reddit has everything you need and its structured way better. But a couple caveats, I've never been super serious about lifting (like I was very into it but had serious fuckarounditis, not very diligent) and I don't really care to actually engage with people. I can just find any question I have and its already been answered.

Also, since it's a new topic, I want to share my routine and progress so far, so we all are on the same page about where we are. I encourage everyone else to do so if they want

My routine:
I'm currently doing https://thefitness.wiki/routines/5-3-1-for-beginners/

Tuesday:
5/3/1 Squats
5/3/1 Bench
incline bench
facepulls
leg raises

Thursday:
5/3/1 Deadlift
5/3/1 OHP
DB OHP
chinups
leg raises/hip thrusts

Saturday:
5/3/1 Bench
5/3/1 Squat
lateral raises
DB rows
leg raises

The accessory work I'm doing in a circuit. Start at 8x8 for each and then work up to 8x12, then add weight and bump it back down to 8x8.

I have a recumbent bike that I do 2-3 times a week for 20 minutes and try to go longer each time.

Updated progress charts:

I'm satisfied with my weight loss, but I am starting to re-evaluate my cardio.

So when I very first started SS was definitely the thing, but 5/3/1 wasn't big the way it is now yet. I think madcow was the typical progression, or dogcrapp or something like that?

Well that's why I liked Chris Jones and Omar Isuf, neither recommended SS or any strength program. Omar did a hybrid and Chris Jones was real about high volume and hypertrophy and basically wanting to look good for the girls.

I actually did do SS, got some results but overall I was way happier and having more fun when I switched programs. Let's be real, isolation stuff is fun. Compound lifts are fun too but not if ur doing 3 heavy lifts per day. Fun = consistency. Consistency is by far the most important thing.

I do enjoy getting stronger for it's own sake. Maybe I'm projecting a bit, but back then it seemed like the general advice for beginners was to keep adding weight and to eat as much as possible to make it happen, reducing assistance and cardio work if the main lifts failed to maintain a (pretty unrealistically quick imo) progressive loading.

Now it seems like people better understand like work capacity and how cardio and assistance help make your lifts stronger.
That's all oversimplified of course.

Anyway I've had brotein powder and oatmeal, two apples and some string cheese today. Gonna have a steak and plenty of broccoli for dinner. If I'm still hungry I'll probably have a salad with grilled chicken

Wanna make sure to get plenty of food today so I can lift tomorrow.
