The third semester content felt sorta tacked on and rushed on the daily life side, but the palace itself was fantastic.

Pretty much everything was a strict upgrade over the original except for the new music (Fantastic, but still generally inferior to the original stuff) and the fact that some of it made the game even easier.

Took 98 hours over the last 23 days, don't regret a single second of the time invested. Absolutely fucking phenomenal game.

The brief sequence where Akechi was the navigator may have been one of the most entertaining things in the entire series. Need more of him as a not-enemy tbqh

How's the overall pacing of the game? It's a big sore point for P5 vanilla for me since it can feel very arduous to play through, especially around the late-middle part.

The parts that everybody complains are poorly paced in the original are still basically the same in Royal.

Spoiler tagging for general safety but The April-December Daily Life portion of the game is largely unchanged from the original. There two entirely new confidants and several new scenes (the vast majority of which feature one or both of the new characters), but they don't help the pacing here at all. Ryuji and Morgana being dumbasses continues to be the low point of the game.

If there is one thing I found a lot more satisfying than the original despite it being entirely unchanged, it's choosing the "Ryuji's a Phantom Thief" option in the aftermath of Palace 3.

Ah, that's a shame. Are the new characters good? Characters introduced in updated version of Persona games can be rather hit or miss...

The new characters are fine, not great. Better than e.g Marie though.

As far as that goes, additional screentime for Lavenza and Akechi is easily the highlight.
