Utah has supposedly been handling the situation very well though I don't know the actual metrics vs other states. But I think we're at less than 50 deaths and something like 3500 confirmed cases and 80k+ tests. Fortunately we've been able to do it without enacting the same draconian bullshit a lot of other states have been doing.

But I think we also have the youngest population in the country so I'm sure that contributes to us not dying as much.

In my opinion, every level of government has done a horrible job overall with this COVID-19 situation but lets be honest here, our government at every level has shown they aren't prepared for catastrophic weather and we know this from the Katrina disaster so it shouldn't come as a surprise how awful this situation has been handled.

The state premier (I believe that's the Australian equivalent? Like, in charge of state) here is doing amazing. Lots of people bashed his tactics as being over-the-top but it has definitely worked in my view. Basically, the national cabinet suggested minimum restrictions and states could go higher if they wanted to. He wanted to.

Australia as a whole got 8 new cases overnight, (we're around 6.6k total confirmed), and Victoria is the 2nd highest state here.

Restrictions might start being eased four+ weeks away.

+ Pushing the 6ft/social distancing thing

- Asking for Federal assistance way too often (during the rain, fires, large earthquakes) and when he gets it he'll say something negative about the President and the Senate
- Told us on Wednesday he'd have an answer about the lockdown timeline on Thursday, we didn't get it
- That initiative from taxpayers and tech companies to help illegals that he announced (and thankfully facing a lawsuit)
- County Mayors are asking him to loosen restrictions but he's dragging the rest of the state down because of the situations in Los Angeles and San Francisco

Eh.. looking at the 1,945 new cases we got yesterday.. I'm gonna bet he's going to extend the lockdown for another 2~3 weeks

Of course they're evaluating the situation as it progresses. It's a highly volatile, rapidly evolving situation with virtually no precedent (the closest being over a century old and therefore difficult to base anything off of in today's world). They'd be idiots to give any sort of definite timeline, and anyone who expects a definite timeline or takes any figure given as being definite is similarly clueless. Yeah, it's frustrating to not have answers and not know what to expect, but that's what happens in a goddamn pandemic.

He's doing okay. He's planning to allow some establishments (bars and churches, among some) re-open this weekend. A little early for me to take advantage of personally, but I get there's a line between health and economy you've gotta try straddling, and my state's quite rural - less than 500 confirmed cases so far.
