Super Meat Boy

SMB is a game about jumping at your problems and dying your way to victory. It's the Smash of indlie platformers when it comes to cameos, its soundtrack is amazing, and few games have a better replay system. I just recently 106%'d the game again and it's my personal game of the decade.

Lost lotta goodies in R2, but if I have to make a recommendation and not just choose my favorite (probably RDR or DMCV)...

Play Yakuza 0. There really is nothing quite like Yakuza, and that's how they get away with releasing like 2 a year.

Honestly Minecraft, I feel like it gets a lot of hate for being 'casual', but it's genuinely a lot of fun with a wide variety of things to do.

Im still playing through it and havent quite gotten to the most recent expansion (which seems to be universally considered the best), but FFXIV is great if you have a couple hundred hours to spend!

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, whether you're burnt out on AC, haven't played one in years, or haven't played one at all, I think this is the most perfect game in the series to rectify all of those issues.

Since other people have already covered HK, I'll go with DOOM. I really fell out of shooters for a long time so I just picked up DOOM right before the contest started, and holy shit, is it great. It really makes you feel like a god of the battlefield - Eternal even more so.

It is super fun and I got it for free when it first came out. Then they started charging for it then it was a free PSN game. It is probably in my son's top 5 games.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is one of the most polished and all around perfect games I've played. Really unique combat system based around environmental effects which creates a lot of room for unique strategies and varied encounters. There's 10 different sets of abilities you can tap into and even combine together, which makes for tons of possible builds, and the game is balanced enough that you can switch things up and go in a completely different direction on replays.

A lot of good games went down in round 2.

I consider Hollow Knight and DOOM (2016) to be mandatory experiences. They're as close to perfect as any game.

If you haven't already tried minecraft, I don't know how you managed that.

Bioshock infinite is a great cinematic experience overshadowed by the last of us, which came out in the same year. If it had come out the year prior or the year after it would have been goty for sure

Journey is beautiful, but maybe not meaty enough for some. A fantastic game to hand to a non gamer to get them used to 3d environments

Sekiro and meat boy are well made game's games, but honestly too difficult for those not already seasoned in the genre

Rocket league is an amazing competitive game to play. It might be overwhelming to start 5+ years after release, but its stimulation of physics and speed makes it as close to a real sport as video games have ever gotten.

I'll support Stardew Valley, Hollow Knight, and Divinity II. From non-indie publishing, I've played Fallout 4 and Diablo III a good bit and enjoyed them. But since it hasn't been mentioned yet, I'll go with

Ori and the Blind Forest
