Alright we back.
Vet says the leg and tail thing was likely the sore butt (likely, it was using back legs fine when I got home)
Gave me probiotics to help with soreness and diarrhea. Every 8 hrs.

They couldn't get decent stool sample.
They also theorize that it's time to move it to kitten patte food.
They gave him some and he ate it up. I will change its box accordingly.

Lol where I am that was posted at 11.
Went to bed at 8 30 to wake at 3...didn't take.
Either way, turns out I was also given some ointment for the affected area, so mom put some on, and I'll probably do it in a bit since its been a while.

Weighed him, he lost an ounce. Worrying slightly, makes sense with the diarrhea.
He ate some mush, and attempted to drink water for the first time.

Sleeping for now. Is cute, he actually follows me when I walk now!

TC I know this is going to sound a little out there, but that kitten needs to sleep next to you. It needs warmth and needs to feel safe. It will greatly help with growth and eating habits.
Its a baby and babies need to feel safe and taken care of.

The kitten needs more direct contact with you.
Make it fall asleep on your chest. You have to become its mother to the best of your ability.

So, I just found this thread and didn't read it all (just the beginning/end), so I apologize if this has been said, but have you looked into supplemental mother's milk for kittens? Some stores sell it, it's designed for kittens who either get separated from their mothers or who have mothers that can't help them in some form.

I found an injured kitten near my house a while back, and she was very weak and timid for a while, but we bought that milk for her and she improved dramatically. She became a lot more energetic and playful within like a day of giving it to her.

Sorry again if that's been mentioned before, but it came to mind there a bit.

I get where you're coming from and its fallen asleep on my chest several times, a few while I fooled it to think I was sleeping.
But I cannot actually sleep with it. I will toss and turn and throw it off or crush it. I usually roll a bit or move.
Is good. The way it follows me, it knows.

Man that Pectalin knocks him out!

Also I got more sleep near his box, yay!

So there's some bad, and good news.
Ever since trying to go solid food, it has eaten a little, but its lost weight, and energy. It doesn't play anymore.
It sleeps and poops where it sleeps, which has been hell on laundry.
I read if this happens to go back to bottle feeding.
So although im now really sad it's not doing well, I have hope.

...also it got fleas...

Not to be a downer, but by recent pics, it doesn't look like the weight it should be given the age of the topic and pictures.

From my experience of losing a kitten to FKS, please be very careful. It comes very sudden and they pass within a night.

For example, the kittens I'm caring for seem to be maybe 2-3 weeks ahead of yours and one was hurt, but they are very strong and healthy now. Stuff like lethargy are very bad signs.

Once again, this is some very good stuff. I at least have a mother cat helping. I can't imagine doing it all alone.

Something I learned from the YouTuber I linked to is that very little kittens need to be stimulated to go to the bathroom. Normally its mother would lick its asshole. Without a mom it needs you to rub a wet cloth on its rear. Maybe that would keep it from shitting in its sleep, and perhaps give it an appetite.

Well, that was for getting it to poop, since they literally could not on their own, he has no problem there, but I see what you're going for.

Yeah, I understand.
Before the recent turn, he was fat bellied, just not growing much. And very playful, unlikely FKS.

But yeah, I'm scared. Luckily, even though he was refusing/being super finicky over our mix formula, he took to it after several attempts, and drank relatively 2 tablespoons.
Will try again later. Set a small lid with more in his box, as I've read that's a thing.

He's been getting better about eating lately, as in the last few feedings.
He was really bad over weekend but he definitely has more energy now.

The cat lady syringe fed him when we met her, and gave us one.
Luckily for me he took 3 tablespoons of formula + Pedialyte a hour ago. He drinks til he's done, then I coax him to do a little more later.

Man wtf with Pedialyte?
Get rid of 48 hrs after opening? How ami supposed to use that much!?

But yes, he's definitely better than he was a couple days ago.
I wonder if this will stunt his growth.
He is clearly developing though, as his claws are now retractable.

to be fair, Pedialyte is meant for babies.

Maybe you can look into it to see if it spoils or if it just loses taste or somethign within 48 hours of opening

It's just to be safe, considering it's for babies.

I can almost promise you if the mother cat wanted her babies, she'd have attacked as soon as you got close.

Some members of animal species are legit not mother material. They're not above abandoning or straight up murdering their own offspring.

There are many reasons why the mother wouldn t attack. It may have been protecting the rest of the litter as well.

Unfortunately it was standing and crying right where one of our vehicles would come barreling in in a bit, I didn't want to risk it getting run over.
I dunno about momma, she let it wander off, but maybe she just went to eat something and come back, dunno.

Its doin much better now. It gets up, walk around, meows, and even bites again.
When I put my hand into the box it will sometimes climb it.

Mom has left wet food inside box for when I'm gone, and he's been eating it and drinking formula.
His stool was more solid than before, I think that's good.

So I think I was feeding too much, and he's got a pudge belly now.
I saw conflicting info, but apparently it should be roughly 5 or 6 tbsp given what his weight is, per day.
His bottle holds 4 and he drinks almost all of it each feeding. 1/4 left.
I feed him 3 or 4 times, so...I think that might be why he had diarrhea.

I need to portion him, even if he would eat more.

Oh he loves to sleep on chest or stomach, usually nestled into an arm.
Makes games Impossible to play.
He did a couple hours ago but I had to grab dinner.

He will actually follow me around now sometimes! Though of course I keep an eye on him.

But I've been calling him Jester every now and then.
I wanted Fool, since it's a cute 4 letter word and I believe he was born around April fools, but everyone's like "noooo that's an insult!"
